I recently moved to Columbus and desperately wanted to support a local independent music store, and at first this looked like the place. There's a good selection, lots of t-shirts, and for the headbangers, a special metal section in the back. It's just too bad that almost everyone working is full of attitude. I've been in ther about 10 times (purshasing something almost everytime), and the staff has made eye contact with me once. The last straw was when I asked for help finding an import from the UK and was told to just order it on Amazon. It's difficult to suppor that type store. it was nice knowing you, looks like you had a great ride...maybe everyone's just in a bad mood because they know the end is near for their industry. Then again, up the street is Used Kids--go there and your faith in music-o-philes will be restored. Pros: Large selection of hard-to find discs, especially metal Cons: Old-fashioned alt-record store bad attitude

Magnolia Thunderpussy has been around for at least 20 years. Original in the campus area, this music store has a very wide selection of music to suit anyones taste. They also sell used CD's so you can get a lot of music without breaking the bank. And I believe they will buy or trade your old CD's that you dont listen to anymore. It is just a fun little store to go shop around in and check out some good tunes. Oh yeah, and if you like stickers or patches for your hoody or backpack, they have a really cool alternative selection.

I spent a good amount of my college money here buying some really great albums. They are really knowledgeable and can help you find anything here. They have a lot of the hard to find and rare stuff collectors love. Just an all around great little record shop. The atmosphere of the store is cool too.

Last time Death Cab for Cutie released an exclusive EP that are only avaliable in certains stores in US and online. Lucky for the Magnolia Thunderpussy Records, I was able to buy one. Also, this is an ideal place to shop if you're interesting in discovering new artists or find certain albums by artist you wont ble able to find in traditional record stores like Sam Goodies or such.

The staff is colorful, yet helpful. If you were here years ago check the address because they did change location a couple of years ago.

I first went to Magnolia Thunderpussy about 10 years ago when I went to school at OU and was visiting some friends in Columbus. Its not really the best place in the world to buy music but it really grows on you. If you want used stuff, things you won't get at best buy/mall cd shops, and other assorted music stuff give it a try. Some of the staff aren't always real helpful but they do seem to really know what they're talking about - which I guess is probably more important.
