I can't believe that some of the last reviews have been bad. I make it a weekly to bi-weekly effort to go the Thurmans. Just from being in there, I can tell you that everyone in there has a good time. The people writing these complaints are probably the ones who want there butts wiped for them. The service there is different, but great. They don't baby you here, but they do have fun with you; it feels like a second home. The food is fresh, high quality, relatively inexpensive, and darn good.
I RECOMMEND THE BLEU CHEESEBURGER WITH BACON (and I like it rare). WITH A PITCHER OF LIENE RED.
There is usually a pretty good wait there, but I don't see it as a wait. My Thurman experience starts out in the lobby. Getting to the table is just the next phase. We get pretzel bites and a pitcher while we hang out in the lobby. If you go out with friends, then hanging out for an hour or two really isn't so bad.
I love the Thurman Cafe!!!
Pros: Burgers, Atmosphere, The Wait!!!
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Okay, if you live in Columbus and don't know that Thurmans has great, huge burgers then you are really out of it, but I want to tell you about their Italian sub. It is the largest, meatiest Italian sub I have found in all of Columbus. I get it hot so that the cheese is oozing and bread is toasted and warm. They also generously juice the sub up with some Italian dressing, that just makes me feel all happy in side. Serve it up with a basket of fries and you have some serious comfort food. So if the burger just isn't what you are looking for try the Italian sub, if you are looking for take out, ask them to put the dressing on the side, so the bread doesn't get soggy. Enjoy.

We eat pizza and lasagna and salads from Mama Mimi's at least a few times per month. It's fast, easy and tastes great, and the kids love the pizza too. Love to eat the breadsticks while we're waiting for the pizza to finish cooking.
Pros: fast, friendly service, awesome tasting food, unique pizzas
Cons: none

My project group has been meeting at a few of the Panera Bread locations near campus... the one toward Clintonville and also the one way north on 23 have seperate rooms that you can reserve to spread out your books and discussions. Then there's the coffee, which might come in handy. I know there are a few that don't have the meeting rooms, but the newer ones do.

This little hole-in-the-wall near campus has great pizza and great breadsticks. You have to really appreciate crust (which I do) to like their pizza because it is thick. The sauce is zesty (but not HOT). My vegan friends go here for pizza because it is the only crust in central Ohio that is vegan-friendly. For a cheap lunch, I suggest just an order of breadsticks and saunce. They are cheap and filling.

fun place to go with large group or just for a romantic dinner for two, as long as you have similar eating habits as those u go with. i've only ever had macaroni rosa, which is sooo good! it has macaroni noodles with broccoli, mushrooms, peas, and chicken and a tomato cream sauce. i also HIGHLY recommend their tomato/mozzarella salad.
Pros: lots to choose from, atmosphere
Cons: sharing dinner recommended (pro or con, depending)

Out of the 3 Greek restaurants I've been able to check out in Columbus, I enjoy King Gyro the most. The sauce they use ( I believe it is tzatziki) is great. It is not watery like some places and has a great balance of the cucumber and garlicky flavor.
They have courteous, good service and everything on the menu has been tasty. From the baklava to the chicken gyros, to the lamb gyros and the Greek version of chicken noodle soup- it has a lemony flavor... every thing's been delicious.

My husband and I got engaged here. We've gone back every year since in February for our engagement anniversary. It is always wonderful eventhough the menu never/hardly changes. The steaks are always so perfect and the other food items are just a bonus. The wine list is extensive, but more on the expensive side. For two people, you will easily spend $100, but it is most likely for a special occasion and will be worth it. Steak Kosar, with lobster and bernaise, is the most likely specialty and fantastic.
The new location in the Short North, with its patio, is a must see as well. Same consistent excellence.

My husband and I have been to the Hyde Park almost every weekend for over a year, and the food, the staff and the atmosphere are all tops. The Steak Griffin with the Cabernet Shallot Butter and the Pretzel Bread alone make the experience worth while. Not to mention the biggest and best piece of Chocolate cake you have ever had. The Manager Scott and Chad are wonderful and if your go request Lincoln or Chris as your serves for the evening...They are the BEST!!!
Pros: Everything about this place is top notch.
Cons: The valet staff can be abrasive at times.
