I lived in Hachinohe (Japan) for over five years and have an extreme affinity for Japanese food. I don't really think it's fare to compare Osaka to the to the food I experienced in Japan, but it certainly ranks as one of Columbia's top restaurants. The servers, though not Japanese, are typically quite good, and the food is delightful.
I also would like to respond to one of the above comments in which there are jabs made at other customers in the restaurant. How tacky for someone to point out the other diners. I don't know where Sage G. goes out to eat, but Osaka has a very quiet atmosphere. In fact, at times I feel the atmosphere is too quiet. The finest restaurants in the world tend to have lively, energetic atmospheres. Perhaps Sage G. prefers the company of corpses or dining at a wake. I on the other hand revel in the livelier customers. Here's to Osaka and the bon vivants who dine there!

Flat Branch, what can I say? The ale, the porter, the stout, and the beer are all good. Suprisingly the food is also great. Especially the food with beer in it ,like the beer bread. The Oil Change Oatmeal Stout will be a welcome try for Guinness lover's. There are always beer specialties, including the delicious Great Pumpkin Ale. I've never had a bad meal at Flat Branch. In closing I enjoy Flat Branch so much, I hate to tell you about it. So please if you see me in line, step aside I saw it first.
Enjoy,

My favorite place to eat when I'm in Columbia. I live over an hour away, and have been known to drive there just to eat at Murry's. Their Chicken Philly is wonderful, especially with a side of Pablano Mayo! Great beer selection.

The first thing I noticed were the pictures on the walls of all the patrons of this restaurant. CC's was recommended to us by my husband's boss, a regular there. He called ahead to let them know we were coming and that is was for our anniversary, so we knew right away they were providing dessert on the house. The menu is a bit pricey but well worth it especially for a special occasion. The lobster ravioli in cheese sauce is the best I've ever had. The steak my husband had was melt-in-your-mouth good. I can't wait to go back.

A microbrewery with great prices, friendly/attentive service, delicious food. They throw a twist into the traditional American favorites...for instance, their burger with artichoke dip on it. Helpings are hearty. The only downpoint is that on Friday & Saturday there is usually a wait. But it is definitely well-worth waiting for. I have lived in Columbia ten years and eaten here probably over 20 times and never been disappointed! When my alumni friends come back to town, we always have to go back to Flat Branch!
Pros: beers, artichoke dip burger, wings, tuna filet sandwich
Cons: usually a wait on Friday, Saturday

Our family very favorite place to eat in Columbia. Sometimes we make a trip just to eat here.
It is located across from Columbia mall, in the strip with Best Buy.They always remember our names, what we want, and how we like it cooked. There is a sirloin steak special with choice of potato, and French toast for $8. We always get this. The children enjoy their chicken strips, real chicken stripes to and not pressed meat.
It is a family owned and operated business.

Shakespeare's pizza is truly the best in town. I love to get it freash from the oven. My parents live in St. Louis and when they come to visit we often go to Shakespeare's because my mother loves it. We've been to many parties where the host had ordered Shakespeare's as the main dish and everyone loves it. I think it's so neat that when you go into the actual pizza parlor you can see them make the pizza. I also love to look at the pictures all over the walls of people all over the world wearing Shakespeare's t-shirts.

Sitting on the patio at Boone Tavern is one of the best ways to enjoy Twilight Fest. The food is plentiful and very tasty. The drinks are reasonably priced especially if you get in at the right time. There is often a special menu for Twilight Fest evenings. You can hear the groups performing in the courthouse square. Be sure to arrive early or you will have to wait a while for a table.

During our 3 years in Columbia, we frequented both Addison's and Sophia's (same owner), and were never disappointed. Great atmosphere, great location, consistently great food. The hardest part was picking out what to eat since everything was great in its own way. Definitely try the appetizers, again, all are great. We miss Columbia's restaurants; the best in the town we now live is Dairy Queen!
Pros: Great food, atmosphere
Cons: , crowded at times
