The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a fun place to visit with kids. The grounds are spread out and there is a lot of playground equipment and activity-type things to do throughout the zoo for little kids. The paved areas are very stroller friendly and they feature several snackbar locations for when the kids get the munchies far away from the zoo’s entrance. Be sure to check out the special Christmas event “Zoo Lights” when the zoo is decorated with Christmas light displays of animals. Zoo Lights is also fun because you get to see many of the animals after dark and it is a different place/experience at night versus being there during the day. It can get cold walking around at night so be sure you bundle everyone up.

Yep--this zoo is at 7,000 feet, so wear comfy shoes! So much the better if you're pushing a stroller--you'll tone both your arms and your legs! Assuming you are up for it (it's not all that bad--it's just not flat) you will love this zoo that offers not only great exhibits by spectacular views of the city as well. If you are truly out of shape, there is a tram you can take that makes plentiful stops for you to get on and off.
Because of the layout of the zoo, you can view the animals form a variety of positions--oftentimes you are looking down at them as they are below you. this gives a unique perspective. The monkey house is fun--but loud. Kids will love it, of course. Don't miss the petting zoo so the little ones can get up close and personal.

I've always loved the zoo. Cheyanne mountain zoo is beautiful. It's actually on the mountain, with alot of great views. They recently remodeled thier giraffe exhibit, so instead of chain link fence, there is a large bridge next to the exhibit to feed the giraffes and get an upclose look at them. There is a small petting zoo and play ground for the younger ones as well as a carousel. Lunch is over priced, but you can bring in your own food instead. At halloween time, there is "boo at the zoo" where volunteers dress up and do halloween stuff. At Christmas time they light up the whole zoo with Christmas lights. Every summer they do an temporary exhibit. this year is the white Tiger. Last year were the butterfly gardens.

For those who are looking for a true piece of Colorado this is it. The zoo is set right into the hillside which does make for steep inclines but also adds so much to the overall experience. Best part of this zoo is the ability to get up close and personal with the giraffes. It's only an extra $1 to ride the tram all day so spend the extra especially if it means not chasing your kids up the steep hills. Enjoy!

The zoo has all the animals you'd expect to see and several ones that you wouldn't! Rhinos, hippos, giraffes, bears, elephants, birds, reptiles, snakes, monkeys, gorillas... The exhibits are neat. I especially like the monkey house (though it smells pretty bad...).
It's built on a mountain, so a lot of the walking is up and down rather steep inclines or stairs. Good exercise right? Go a couple times a year to keep up with the new exhibits.
And the view of the Colorado Springs is quite nice from way up there. Fresh air :) ...(except in the monkey house ;)

The White lions are good to see this summer, but can be hard to see as they hide a lot.
I really enjoy going there and spending a few hours feeding the Giraffes and viewing the different animals.
Don't forget the Will Rogers Shrine.

When you first walk in you see the main attraction, the giraffes. My daughter is particularly fond of the giraffes, as she is able to feed them, sometimes she gets there tongue touching her! They come right up close, its wonderful, to see such a large animal so close! The zoo is a smaller zoo, although the only mountain zoo! It definitely has some gorgeous views, and its very fun to watch the animals. There is a funny little porcupine that might just dance if you're lucky! My kids got to experience that, and the wolves are interesting! I love this zoo, it might be smaller than some zoo's but the view makes up for it all, and you can go back again and again!

We always have fun when we go to the zoo for the day. We bought a membership there and it is well worth it. My kids never get tired of looking at all the animals. I didn't think the white lion exhibit this year was as wonderful as they put off however. It is also a great workout, there are many hills and pushing the stroller around really helps. My kids love to see the giraffes and the Meer cats. The playground and petting zoo are great too. There is also a carousel and a train for kids to ride on. And the views are great from up there! Its a great place to take visitors, and the shrine at the top is amazing too. A great time for everyone!
