I have a slew of pets and do a lot of rescuing. I have used this clinic for a number of reasons including regular annual check ups, to spay/neutering, to emergencies. I have dealt with most all of the Doctors. Everyone is great, kind and caring. I highly recommend this clinic.
However, this use to be a much more affordable clinic. They have raised their prices so much over the last few years that they are now pretty much compatible to most other clinics.
Therefore, if you do not mind the philosophy of a walk-in clinic, and are looking for good quality Dr's giving good quality care, then this is the place for you.

I brought my cat to Gateway for a 4 paw declaw and Dr. McClain did a wonderful job. However when I went to pick my cat up the next day the receptionists said she had to stay an extra night because she had a 4 paw declaw. I told them I was told to pick my cat up today. They were very argumentative with me. They even made me sign a waiver saying my cat was lying in her own urine and feces crying in pain and I took her against her advice. When I got my cat she was totally fine! She was running around at home and not in any pain. They lied to me. If it weren’t for the wonderful Dr. McClain I would have had a nightmarish experience there.
Pros: Dr. McClain
Cons: Receptionists

Carol, the pharmacist, told me they would not sell me heart worm preventative medicine for my dogs unless I got them tested for heartworm. My sister goes there for her 2 dogs and affirmed this was false, not necessary to get them tested if you continue on the medicine. When I called back, another receptionist also confirmed that although it was recommended it was not a necessity. Isn't this a bit arm twisting to spend even more money?
Pros: operations are inexpensive
Cons: pharmacist lies

I agree with all who have given Dr.'s Bob and Brian great reviews. We have been using their services for 20 plus years. They have taken great care of our dogs. They are knowledgeable and compassionate. The Reception staff leaves much to be desired. It is very rarely you are greeted with a smile (unless you are a friend of these ladies at the front desk-I have observed over many, many hours of waiting), they snap at you and are bossy; and do not even think of asking them how long you might wait-you'll really get some attitude. I understand it can be frustrating to work with the public, but if you cannot deal with that type of job you should not be working there.

I was referred to Gateway by a friend. I had previously been using a very pricey suburban vet, but was displeased with their lack of customer care and the diagnosis they had given my dog. My dog was seen by Dr. Bob and he listened carefully to my concerns while he examined my dog. He quickly diagnosed her condition (correctly) and helped her along the road to recovery. One of the things I respect most about Dr. Bob is he truly had the best interest of my dog in mind. He walked me through every stage of the process leading up to surgery and maintained excellent communication when we encountered some difficulties with surgery due to the nature of my dog's breed. The surgery was a success and I will definately continue to go to the clinic for future services. I must also mention that the facility is clean, well maintained, and the technicians and receptionists have always been pleasant and helpful in person and over the phone.

I cannot believe all the negative reviews for the Gateway receptionists! Are you kidding me!My animals (all of them) have been patients of the Gateway staff for more years than I can count. Cats & Dogs, old and young. It doesn't matter, the staff treated us so well and the doctors are so knowledgeable I would be grateful to find a human doctor that I could go to and get the superb treatment that my animals do. I have had a puppy with parvo and less than 15% chance of survival that just turned 4 years old, to old St. Bernard and Rottweiler that were so humanly treated in their old age it makes me jealous that I will not find any human care to equal it when my time comes. I have even rescued a small puppy from horrible abuse, being dragged by a jerk on a bicycle down a busy street, all its pads were scrapped off, and all its toes on the right paw broken. Gateway took care of this dog, treated and healed her, gave her all her shots and spayed her without asking me for a dime, I then fostered her until we found her a good home. How much more can they do? As far as I am concerned there is no better place on this earth than Gateway. It's a little bit of heaven on earth. And lets not forget the Noah Project!!! We can all help them by donating to the Noah Project. Every time you take your pet for care and pay your bill which we all know is very reasonable, leave a little extra for the Noah Project so they can continue to care and treat neglected and abused animals. Thank you Gateway, Dr. Brian, Dr. Bob, Dr. Liz and the entire staff. Including the receptionists THANK YOU ALL!

I love Gateway Animal Clinic. I never wait for a specific Doctor - they are all friendly and good with my animals. You do have to wait - but the upside is you don't need an appointment. I have 3 cats and sometimes on "vet day" I have trouble cornering all 3 to bring them. Here I don't have to worry about an appointment. Just make sure you plan to wait - call ahead and they will let you know how busy they are. Dr Abbey even remembered my parent's dog and his story even though she was not the last one to work with him. I have never had a bad experience there and have been taking my animals there for at least 10 years. I would never take my four legged children to a Dr. I would not see myself - I trust all of the doctors there! We drive over 1/2 hour to go to Gateway. AND there prices are more reasonable then most vets, which is a big plus if you have multiple pets like I do!
Pros: Very friendly, no appointment needed
Cons: Waiting
