Playhouse Square Center is an outstanding place to see a show, and there are often great shows playing there. The largest theater complex outside of Broadway, Playhouse Square routinely hosts major shows like The Producers and The Lion King. The theatres and lobbies are all beautiful, and the enclosed walkway from the parking garage is great in the winter.

The Grog Shop may be in a new location, but it has only gotten better since the move. They still book the same excellent variety of local and independent bands with the occasional more popular act. The new venue is great, and provides a great place to enjoy a concert most any night of the week.

I just love Cain Park and all the programs it has to offer each summer. I especially love the arts festival. I have been going for over 15 years now and each year there is something different and exciting to see. I have made it a habit to take my younger cousins and nephews in order to expose them to different types of art and they all love it also and look forward to it each year. The park is also great for sledding in the winter and just playing on the playground for children in the summer. An excellent resource to the Cleveland Heights community!

Of all the community theater stages I've seen around the Cleveland area, none has been as consistent and as provocative as the Dobama stage. It's a darling of the Coventry region not only because it's edgy but because it brings people together.
There's a strong force, a spirit behind all the shows Dobama does. Sure, the roof leaks every other year (and has since they moved in, back in the seventies), but who cares? Everybody is focused, everybody is into the art, and - incredibly - they can really act.
Dobama brings good plays and musicals into town. It's one of the few places where Cleveland isn't a derogatory adjective: it's real Cleveland theater.
The next time you're around, catch a show. The season is long and comprehensive; they just don't put on bad plays. One night a week is "pay as you can"; otherwise expect to pay $5 to $20.

More
The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern offers two venues for live music. The tiny Tavern and the ballroom off to the side of the tavern. My personal favorite is the ballroom. It's large enough to hold a fair sized crowd, but still small enough to feel like an intimate show. Definitely one of my favorite venues in the Cleveland area.
I used to look forward to the yearly Luna show at the Beachland, but alas, they've broken up. I've seen a number of other shows here as well, definitely for the smaller acts.
Ticket prices are always reasonable, and if you purchase from their website, you save on the ridiculous handling fees charged by ticket brokers like tickets.com and the like. The Beachland will hold your tickets at the door.

Severance is the longtime home of The Cleveland Orchestra, dating back to the early 1930s. The Hall underwent a major renovation in the 1990s and reopened with an amazing series of concerts. The Hall is an amazing acoustic experience, especially since the 1990s restoration that improved the already excellent sound of the hall and returned the old Skinner pipe organ to service. The best concerts in the Hall are the ones done by the Cleveland Orchestra. The Hall is their home venue. Parking is expensive and you can leave your car in the underground parking. If you are lucky enough to find a metered parking place, you can do street parking close to the hall.
Severance Hall is a must see and experience in Cleveland, Ohio!

I got hooked on Playhouse Square this past summer when I went to see Wicked. From that great experience, I subscribed to the Broadway Series. There was a terrific line-up and the subscription was not too expensive. As an added bonus, the theaters (State, Palace, Allen) are all absolutely beautiful. It makes downtown Cleveland a great destination.

The Agora is and has always been Cleveland’s best large concert club. It has a great history and still hosts excellent national and smaller acts, even with competition from the House of Blues. There is plenty of surface parking around the theater, although it is not in the best neighborhood. The bar is good and large and not extremely expensive.

Seeing a Dancing Wheels production was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had. It was amazing to see the dance company incorporate dancers in wheel chairs and choreograph all of the dancers so that it flows and looks natural and beautiful. This is the only dance company world wide that does this. I highly recommend going if you get the chance.

Tower City Amphitheater is a good outdoor concert venue. It is large and easy to get to, making it suitable for the tours and large festivals that take place there. The location on the river is very scenic, but the big amphitheater tent is not the greatest for acoustics. Parking at the Tower City lot is the best way to go.
