We are so fortunate to have the Cleveland Museum of Art in our city. It has on display some of the most amazing artworks from various famous artists. Although part of the building is now closed due to renovation and expansion, it is worth a trip to enjoy the rest of the space. The atmosphere is calm; there is plenty of parking (free on certain days) and the location is perfect.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is one of the most wonderful places in Cleveland. Exhibits are constantly changing. Besides amazing art works, they also have a large selection of Knight armor. This is my favorite section of the museum. It is quite odd to see how small the armor is, and to remember that people were actually that much smaller long ago. The Cleveland Museum of art focuses on collecting really good art, instead of collecting a lot of it. They will spend their money to get one really good painting from an artist, instead of buying most of the collection, minus the good pieces. At a cost of $0.00 (except for parking and special exhibits) I recommend this. Right now, they are under construction so call ahead of time before you go.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is probably the greatest free art museum between New York and Chicago. The permanent collection has a lot of depth, and a lot of works by prominent artists. The only reason the Cleveland Museum of Art doesn't get the 5th star from me is that gawd-awful addition they see fit to encase the original 1916 neoclassical facade with. Aghast doesn't even begin to describe it. I would have expected more from people whose job it is to preserve the past.

I have been to the Cleveland Art Museum many times over the years and recently went back with my grandmother. The Cleveland Art Museum is a treasure of Cleveland that has often been overlooked. There is so much to see that I am never able to do the whole museum. I especially love the Egyptian area and the modern area. I will be going back soon!

Without much notice, the Cleveland Museum of Art abruptly closed a great portion of its exhibits a few months ago, and word is they'll be gone for years. Even in such a discombobulated state, this is still the finest repository of art you'll find in the city.
There are a few dozen galleries still open, and you can spend a good afternoon wandering around. The most beautiful art is all in one hallway right now; they've put out their very favorites with little regard for chronology (O'Keefe, Renoir, Picasso, and Pollock), and it's beautiful.
The staff is friendly and courteous (they have a nice way of reminding you that, no, you can't photograph copyrighted pictures - whoops!). I came in khakis and a T-shirt and only felt a little underdressed.
Easter Egg: the courtyard has a sculpture of a lion done by the same fellow who did the stonework at Squaw Rock, another unmissable local outdoor attraction. Look for his signature.
The fact that it's free only makes this a better museum. It's always quiet, cozy, and full of treasures.

If you come to cleveland, this is a place you don't want to miss. And you should get there early, because you need a whole day to enjoy the masterpieces. It does not only have American things, but also foreign things especially from China. Also, it's near Case Western Reserve University, cleveland Institute of Music.

The Cleveland Museum of Art holds an impressive collection of art from the past 5,000 years. They have paintings, sculptures, and textile arts for a variety of artwork. Admission to these are free! There are often special showcases, such as Egyptian theme (with actual mummies!) and Medieval with armor and warriors, too. The movies really add interesting facts about the artists and artwork that you won't get just reading the cards next to the displays. It's educational and a beautiful place!
