This is a classy place, right downtown. The bar is great, the food is great, and the wait staff is the best. I love the tomato bisque, but there are so many other great choices that you're bound to be full without soup! Seafood is great, from a spectacular tower to the entrees. And the wine list is excellent. Not cheap, but worth the price!

During my business trip to Cleveland, I thought I would try this restaurant based on the reviews I read and I have to say I was not disappointed! The restaurant was beautifully appointed with glossy dark wood, flickering blue votives, high ceilings and chandeliers - given the different facets of their dining/bar area, I could see having a romantic dinner, an indulgent girls night out or just a simple but elegant dinner with a colleague.

Totalled a bill of a $163 for dinner and couldn't have been more disappointed. Was with a group of 10, service was awful, took forever for them to do anything from start to finish. I had a filet which was dry and overcooked. My wife had a white fish, again dry, small, and lacking any assemblence of flavor. If I wanted that kind of experience I could have saved myself $150 and had my 7 year old cook. Pathetic....will never return.
Pros: Nice inside
Cons: Everything else

I had the second ocassion to dine in this restaurant, this time with my guests sent by their hotel Concierge. Like my last visit, there were lots of empty seats in the bright front room available, but we were escorted to the dark back room where they packed all the people. I got an arrogant attitude from the front desk when I asked for one of those nice empty seats up front. The menu was the same as half a year ago, offering the standard overpriced fare without much creativity. Like my last visit, the wait for service was very long. As a seafood aficionado, I believe the baked oysters were good, the mussels a bit unfresh, the seafood chowder plain. They pushed for the expensive dish "Nag's head grouper" which I thought was unfresh and overcooked. My guests had the Halibut special and stuffed trout and all three of us did not finish our fish. The desserts were nice, but we went there for the fish. Overall, if you want the "Olive Garden" of seafood, Blue Point is the place. This is a restaurant that serves seafood, not a seafood restaurant. It doesn't even have fresh lobsters like Red Lobster. It seems the primary interst is to make money, not to excel in the food. THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR INTERESTING OR SUPERB FISH. The standard menu, unimpressive cooking style and quality makes it the McDonalds of its class, but you pay the high price for the decor and the name that it doesn't really live up to. I've had better seafood dishes (and service) in restaurants elsewhere in town, and even across the street at Metropolitan. So, if you are a seafood lover, don't go there. If seafood (or dinning out) is a rare treat for your gests, and you don't mind paying a lot, then this place might work.
Pros: Nice ambiance, if you ever get a table in the front room.
Cons: Overpriced, food has no taste, food not fresh, poor service with an attitude.

I reserved a table for 9 my birthday celebration and ended up having people cancel at the last minute because of bad weather, so I showed up to the restaurant with only 6 in my party. When I told the hostess about this, I got attitude from her and she made us wait 10 minutes until they could move us to a smaller table. What was the point of a reservation? Shortly after we were seated, the fire alarms started going off, and that lasted no less than 15 minutes, making our dinner conversation impossible. We didn't smell smoke or see any fire, so no one panicked, however it would have been nice if our server had explained why the alarms went off. I ordered the stuffed lobster tail special and it arrived cold and overdone. When I finally flagged the served down, she said she'd have it heated up, but never apologized or offered to bring me a new meal. It was instead returned to me rearranged on a new plate, probably microwaved, and even more overdone. I could barely eat another rubbery bite and ended up taking the $50 leftovers home out of spite. Blue Point is overrated and definitely overpriced. I have had better service and a better meal at Red Lobster,

First timers. Flew into Burke Lakefront Airport on business and had dinner here. It was a Monday nite, but the place was packed due to the holidays. Arrived on time for reservation. Seated promptly, and waited on very promptly also. It was an enjoyable evening. Food was great. The only downside was that it was crowded, so the noise level was a bit high. After the all the doctors, lawyers, and high-end corporate people left, it was quite nice. Get your wallet out because it is not cheap, but food, drink, and service were excellent.
Pros: Food and service.
Cons: Avoid crowded times for best experience.

This restaurant was recommended by the bartender at another restaurant, so we headed across the street to try this one out. We were not disappointed. While we did not have a reservation, they were able to fit us in and in a booth looking out to the street.
The wait staff was great and very helpful, and the food was incredible. The seafood here is wonderful and very fresh...and we were here in early March. From the wait staff to the wine, to the appetizer, to the entree to the dessert, we enjoyed every moment in this restaurant. The warehouse district was within walking distance of our hotel, so we didn't have to find a place to park, but we were definitely cold what with the snowy windy weather Cleveland was having that evening. Thankfully we had a wonderful meal to keep us warm on our walk back to the hotel.
Pros: Great fresh seafood
Cons: May have to wait if you don't have a reservation.

I have heard about this restaurant many times on the radio and know it is always rated high. I think that our bad experience should be known.
The room is nice, I like the upstairs. The menu is big and prices high but you should know that going it - no complaints. We had the chicken roll appetizer and the sauce was amazing.
HOWEVER. We waited and waited for our entrees, only to have the waitress come and clear our table and hand us dessert menus - they had completely forgotten us!! Unacceptable for a place of this "caliber".
Also, my husband's filet was musky tasting - he ate only a few bites. My fish was average but highly oversalted. The lobster potatoes are not worth the extra price as there was no distinct lobster flavor, just more salt.
Our free desserts (make up for forgetting our entrees) were also tasteless. The crust on my peach cobbler was still doughy!
Shame on Lannigan and Malone for raving about this place and having me waste a perfectly good evening there!
Pros: looks fancy
Cons: service, food

We have dined at Blue Point Grille on several occassions, all with positive results. We hosted a holiday party for a total of 18. All of us were treated like royalty, as we received a hearty welcome from the manager. This royal treatment was not left at the door! Our server made us feel as if we were her only concern for the entire evening. She anticipated our every need. Blue Point prepares the finest seafood dishes, but we were completely pleased with the succulent steaks, as well. To top it all off, our guests were highly impressed with the extensive wine list. The attention to detail in regards to the atmosphere just heightened the enjoyment of the festive occassion. Most locals agree that Blue Point Grille is an absolute must if you are visiting Cleveland. Clevelanders are proud to have such a gem in their midst.
Pros: Excellent Service, Delicious Food, Nice Wine Selection
