The Historical Society is a fantastic place to step inside and take in all of the history they have there. I've spent many a day there culling the manuscripts, books, microfiche, genealogy films and more. The staff there will help you get started tracing your family and get you on your way. It's much easier to buy the membership so you can go as often as you'd like - and believe me, you'll like to go once you've been there.

More
If you enjoy looking at vintage cars and walking through a mansion from yesterday in Cleveland, then the Western Reserve Historical Society is a must see.
This last year the WRHS was free during the summer months. They asked only for a donation! The admission fee is quite reasonable.
Cleveland Indians fans will enjoy the large neon Chief image in the gallery to the right as you enter. If you are into vintage architecture and furniture, then you must take the guided tours of a mansion that makes up part of the museum. You cannot go alone, so check the tour times before you check out the other parts of the museum.
The car exhibits include vintage Cleveland cars and examples of rare and usual cars made in Detroit and Indiana. They even have vintage French cars in one of the halls. Airplanes and commercial vehicles are part of the display.
There is so much in this grouping of halls, it is impossible to review all of it.
The museum also has an excellent gift store that you can shop at, even if you don't have time to view the exhibits.
Excellent use of your time! Bring your kids!

My family and I really enjoy the West Side Market and the Cafe. The cafe has great food for the prices. Most of the food, at least the breakfasts, are cheaper than if I made them at home-without the labor! We love the food, the prices, and the atmosphere. Visiting the cafe and market has become one of our favorite weekend escapades.

My favorite reason for frequenting Video 42 - they never run out of Sunday New York Times. I can come in at 8am or at 4pm, and there's always a couple left.
They also sell all manner of magazines, newspapers and publications you can think of. Plus, they rent videos. Pretty good selection at a decent price too. Candy, gum, cigarettes - your typical news stand fare. But man, I am so glad they are there. It's nice knowing I can count on a local business to always have the paper I want, to always have good service and to pretty much always be open.
So grab a cup of coffee at Bearfields up the street, head down a few blocks, grab your reading material at Video 42, and then go find a park. Enjoy!

We used Trolley Tours of Cleveland to transport our guests from our house to the party location for my husband’s location, as suggested by a family friend. What a great idea, especially for our out-of-town guests. They had the opportunity to tour downtown Cleveland, and see some important landmarks. This would have been impossible otherwise. The ride was smooth and the guests had a lot of fun.

Tower City Amphitheater is a good outdoor concert venue. It is large and easy to get to, making it suitable for the tours and large festivals that take place there. The location on the river is very scenic, but the big amphitheater tent is not the greatest for acoustics. Parking at the Tower City lot is the best way to go.

Touch is still a kicking place since the re-opening. The vibe is similar...I love the eclectic crowds it draws of all races and persuasions. We recently went to a holiday kick-off party for their new menu and the food promises to be quite tasty; not just standard pizza and bar fare anymore. The drink selections are good, and relatively resonable. (Their lambic is $1 cheaper than any other bar I've seen it at) The music still is good with salsa night continuing, the nitty gritty monthly, random techno nights and a lot more.

This golf course is very new, and also very beautiful and well-designed. It holds 18 championship holes on a smooth, fast course and is always well-taken care of. It runs along the woods and is beautiful in the fall, when the leaves are changing color. It's well tended to and the landscape is gorgeous, with stones alongside the paths and lakes. It's worth it to go for the design alone!

The Mather is docked downtown and we thought we'd take the children down to go inside.
Once inside you find that some of the stairs are not very wide but it's quite fascinating to see how and where they slept, and moved on the ship. You can also go up and 'steer' the ship if you'd like.
Doesn't take long to walk thru it and it's something your children will remember.
