The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is absolutely one of the most phenomenal collections of Rock history you will ever find. Often boasting big name attendees to various events, watch for special announcements. For those truly interested it could take nearly an entire day to walk through and look at the intricate details and read the information provided. For those a little less interested a good 4 hours would work. It would all be dependent upon what you're into. Your favorite area would probably be dependent upon what type of music you enjoyed and when you were growing up. Some enjoy the 50's style area. Others love the Elvis area. Mine was the 70's and 80's part with the artists and songs I loved growing up with. Tom Petty, Madonna and the oncoming of the video age were all dominant. Everything from instruments to photographs, albums, outfits and more. Some of the media is reading material, others videos. The types are endless. Audio footage of some of the stars and their comments. Real papers that the stars used to write song ideas and lyrics on. It's really fun. The gift shop is pretty typical. They carry a little of everything for everyone. Some things over priced, others reasonable.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a beutiful building on the lake. It is convenient to downtown and right near the Browns STadium and the Science Center. It has a history of rock and roll including a great section (I hope it's permanent) on MTV. The older stuff was okay, but I was unfamiliar with many people. I loved all of the personal stuff. The cafeteria is good for museum food. There was a concert the day I went and it was very loud- they gave out earplugs which we used.

I remember all the hype about Cleveland getting the Rock and Roll hall of fame and the excitement of it all, including having it designed by I.M Pei (of course he designed it for a completely different location, but it still looks pretty cool where it is). When i went there for the first time I expected a lot more than what it was. If you happen to be a hard core music historian or a huge music buff you would probably appreciate it a lot more than I did. I just didn't think the quality of the exhibits was worth the money. Overall I was rather disappointed in the experience, but still glad that i went. Although how it gets any repeat business is a mystery to me.

Cleveland's most famous museum is a worthy trip to and through the history of popular music and rock'n'roll. The collection is housed in an incredible architectural achievement by I. M. Pei, which opens it up, rather than closes it from the Lake Erie waterfront. The museum features not only artifacts, but rightly prides itself on a great collection of multimedia, videos, and films. Then again, one should expect nothing less in this post-MTV era. The place is inclusive to every fan of popular music. The admission price, however, at $20, is by no means a bargain.

Finally the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame opened. You can spend a whole afternoon there with no problem. It has different floors with many displays from early rock to present. You can listen to the history of Rock, see the costumes worn by your favorite artists etc. There is a phone installed by Yoko Ono and if it rings, you get to talk to her live. You can visit the gift shop and have a bite to eat as well. They have traveling displays to freshen things up as well.

It's a shame that this museum is one of the few things people know about Cleveland. It's not a great museum - our science center is more interesting. But every city has a science museum; only Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There are a few genuinely interesting bits of memorabilia, trivia, and exhibits every time I visit. But there are also piles of dull garb, and there's all sorts of material and information that seems like it's missed the mark; like it misstates the rock and roll era. Maybe it's just that this museum seems too conservative. There are no great risks; each year's Hall of Fame inductions are predictable, and it's gotten harder and harder to convince them to perform at their own ceremonies. It all seems a little underwhelming, like something's missing. The building is beautiful, but there just isn't enough inside yet. Nevertheless there are patches and places where you can really reminisce. In those places you can honestly see the way that music used to be. For these parts of the museum, you should visit at least once while you live in Cleveland. I don't think you'll regret it.

With memorabilia and artifacts from Elvis to the British invasion all the way until now, the collection of the Rock Hall will bring back memories. The beautiful building on the lake front enhances the experience greatly, providing views of the lake and city.
