Key Bank is the worst bank I have ever been with. They have hidden fees for everything, excessive calling in $8, being over drafted $39, having a $39 over draft $28. Thier customer service is a joke. Getting passed around from person to person and having them all tell you different stories. I'd say go with a real bank not this Mickey Mouse opperation. They are horrible.

Hi, I don't even know where to start...
Ok, how about this... they let some guy pass checks on my business account - the checks don't even look like our checks. I had to be the one to jump through hoops (police report, meeting at the bank, affidavit, etc.) EVEN THOUGH it is clear that this con-artist is not a signer on my account. The people at the bank said, basically, tough shit, we don't have time to check signatures or do anything to ensure that any Tom, Dick or Harry can't just print up checks and go shopping with your money. They could not care less.
What else... oh, my friend's family business (a restaurant) used to bank there and she went in to get change for the cash register and they wouldn't give her any change even though they know who she is. They said it had to be her husband since he was the signer on the account. So, let's see, guess he has to drop the running of the business (don't burn that pizza) to drive to the bank for change rather than sending his wife or an employee, even though the bank employees know the wife and most of the employees. Does this make sense?
Oh, then there's the payroll fiasco. Let me just summarize that there is no one at KeyBank who knows how to process payroll. There have been some very nice people who have actually returened my calls so they could pass my information on to someone who won't return calls.
Oh, and I've been asking for 3 years how to get my statements and checks by mail. I've never been able to get an answer on this one. I guess they just have online statements with the information expiring within 60 days. I can't say since no one is interested in answering the question.
Oh, oh! This one is priceless! They are now promoting investment services but when you call, the sales staff has no idea what percentages the investments yield. Ha!
These people are idiots and no one should trust them with money.
Thanks. I feel better now.

Opening a new account at this bank was one of the most harrowing experiences I have ever had. I could even say that Bank of America is better (shocker!).
When I moved to Cleveland, my ma and I opened a joint account so I could get an apartment there. My ma already had a business account with Key, so no problem, right?
Cut to two months later when I actually try to move into my new place. In order to get my keys and the lease, I needed to pay the standard 1st month's rent, blah blah in cash. I ran to KeyBank a block away to get it. Simple, right?
NOOOOO. Apparently, they couldn't "verify" the addresses on the account so my assets were on hold. I had opened the account with the apartment address I was supposed to move into but my ma had used the address SHE WAS ALREADY USING FOR HER OTHER ACCOUNT! So what if she used a PO Box, it was already a verified address!!! And why did they even LET us use a PO Box if they knew it wasn't allowed?!?!? HUH?!?!?!
They were asking me to send a copy of the lease (that I couldn't get UNTIL I got the cash) or a utility bill (that I haven't opened yet and couldn't even get to if I wanted since I didn't have the keys). Something about the new Patriot Act. Grrrrrrrr!!
The final time I went to address the SAME issue (even after getting my lease faxed over TWICE), the account rep said "Oh, I see what the problem is, I just needed to set this address as the primary. Doo doo doo, that should be it!" WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCK?!?! I wasted all that time for a NOVICE mistake?
To sum it up, I had to waste 10 HOURS (they are VERY VERY slow) over the course of 4 separate trips and 5 weeks, talked to 2 different morons, my account almost foreclosed (without getting notified), my first rent check bounced, ALL BECAUSE OF A SIMPLE CLERICAL ERROR!!!!!
I hate them hate them hate them hate them.
On top of all that, they have the funkiest business hours. Only open until 4:30 Mon-Thurs?!?!? Actually, when I went there last year, they had one random day in the week close at 4PM. WTF? Lazy mofos up in Cleveland, yo. Worst customer service in the country overall, I've seen.
