Good: The service and atmosphere are first rate. It's always packed so it's a great place to people watch.. Bad: The food is pricey for what you get, and nothing special unless ribs boiled into denture worthy tender submission and slathered in sweet tomato sauce are your thing. The duck is way way over-cooked and the the best tasting main course item on the menu- the shrimp - is served in an appetizer portion. The default side- saratoga chips- are slices of potato deep fried, and I've gotten them anywhere from burnt to oily-floppy.. Improvements: I'd like to see them pay as much attention to the quality of their food as they do their atmosphere.. Other: If you're expecting real BBQ you'll be sorely disappointed. To be fair, they don't have BBQ in their name, so I don't think they're trying to be misleading. But they keep coming up on the list of best BBQ in Cincinnati, however BBQ is NEVER boiled and involves hardwood smoke. The only smoke here is the cigar smoke still clinging to the walls from when it was legal to smoke in restaurants..

The Boathouse near downtown is one of the nicest restaurants in Cincinnati in terms of atmosphere, and the food is fine as far as that goes. Sports nuts will love the sports memorabilia found at all locations. But BBQ purists will find the ribs highly disappointing- boiled until they're gummable, then finished under the broiler with a sticky sweet sauce then more dumped on after. No trace of smoke, no bite in the sauce, and very little trace of meat flavor. The saratoga chips that come with the ribs are greasy. Go with the shrimp; it's excellent if you can stomach paying close to $20 for 7 or 8 medium sized pieces of shrimp.

Though there is more than one Montgomery Inn, you must go to the boat house downtown. It's right on the river, so as you walk in you get a beautiful view. The food here is great, and, of course, you must try their world famous ribs. Personally I found the prices to be a little steep, so I don't eat here all the time, but if you visit Cincinnati, this is a must try place.

Go to the Boat House right on the beautiful Ohio river for great ribs and atmosphere. Try to stop by on one of the less busy nights so you can ask for a table with view. With the legendary status in Cincinnati, you might expect high prices and not much in return, but you would be wrong. The prices are reasonable, the ribs are excellent, and the boat house is a place that no visit to Cincinnati would be complete without. Run, don't walk to the Montgomery Inn!

Nothing says Cincinnati more than world famous Montgomery Inn ribs. You cannot miss when you dine at the Montgomery Inn boathouse on the river. Start your evening with the valet parking. Unless you have reservations, you will probably have to wait during prime week-end hours, so enjoy a drink at the bar while you peruse the sports memorabilia. The ribs are beyond compare, but the chicken is wonderful as well. Save room for dessert, they serve Graeters!
