We had a total failure of a meal at the Fish House. Cold food, major substitution of ingredients without letting us know, staff playing and fraternizing in the dining room while they were doing their pre-opening prep duties (after the restaurant was open--very noisy and distracting), I was served a mussel with a a huge chunk missing out of the shell (the broken half was buried in the pasta to hide it and I ate it before I saw this--I was horrified), someone had trimmed their beard of the men's room sink and it was covered in hair, the bathroom was in major need of cleaning elsewhere as well. The nori in the sushi roll was rubbery and chewy. The soft shell crab in the spider roll was cold, old precooked, and tough. An awful dining experience with a very steep price tag. I wrote the manager a description of the multiple problems we experienced (there were many more), and they didn't bother responding. Crossing this one off the list. never again. Caveat emptor y'all. I'm just sorry I had to give them one star because they don't deserve that. Pros: Location Cons: The food.

Mt. Adams Fish House used to be the premiere sushi/fresh fish restaurant. Been there twice in 3 months and the food was terrible. the sushi did not look or taste fresh and rolls easily fell apart. Sushi from grocery stores taste better. Beluga is the best sushi in town, expensive but worth it. We ordered crab cake and it was soggy and greasy. the crab meat was a dull gray in color. Blue Fin tuna was a large cut of fish that had a bland taste. the sauce that accompanies it tastes like it came from a jar. the fish and sauce did not seem to integrate. the swordfish looked great and tasted fair/good and it was the best of our dinners. the portions are all around generous but if the food is gross, having more of it does not help. our service was fantastic but the food is terrible. we spent $190 for dinner for 3 persons - what a huge waste of money, will not return or recommend to anyone. the owner also owns celestial restaurant around the corner and we've been there a couple times and it has also gone down hill. the cocktail shrimp both times was dry and rubbery. the other restaurant they own is teak and their sushi and dishes are great tasting and reasonable in price. Pros: service Cons: pricey - restaurant looks outdated; dining and bathrooms could use update as they are shabby

Well I need to say I worked for this chef here named malone and chanaka, the problem is I don;t like working for someone who is a con artist. Meaning telling customers it's fresh fish when in fact they buy half of their stuff from Blue fin and ocean wide frozen It's a ripp off. Not to mention chanaka owns the Celestial of Mt Adams as well needless to say they buy their steaks from GFS food market then mark up the price 70%. Am I mad yes I worked for them for 8 days then quite reason The people running these places are a joke not to mention dirty. I came from NYC to Cincinnati and it's been crazy. Anyways now that I had quite the owner will not even give me my check tells you allot about this guy. Anyways wanted to also let you know that the Celestial won all of it's awards before this guy Chanaka bought it. He's a retired accountant trying the restaurant business. So I end this with this if you are going to pay the price for food go downtown the food is real there.

We went to the upstairs which was very cozy, and from start to finish the service was excellent. Scallop appetizer was very average. I wanted to stay away from fish for an entree, and ordered the portobello ravioli. This dish was just terrible. It was portobello ravioli, with a red vodka sauce that was too tangy sprinkled with grilled shrimp and cranberries. It was way too many things going on at once. Shame on me, however, for ordering this dish at a fish house. My husband said the filet was good and others in our party seemed to enjoy their fish dishes. Pros: Cozy, warm ambiance Cons: High prices, the vodka sauce

This is a unique, top-notch small restaurant. I would classify it as intimate-cozy, yet relaxed. The menu is somewhat limited, and if you are a meat and potatoes lover this is probably not for you. Virtually all the entrees and most of the appetizers, soups are seafood. The Sushi is great! Only possible downside is that it is somewhat expensive. Pros: Great Sushi and unique seafood dishes Cons: Not much variety besides seafood; fairly expensive

Yes it is over priced but it's also located in the coolest part of the city. I would not be ashmased to take out of state friends here. Yes, the ambience seems circa 1984. For $25+ an entree, I would expect a bit of creativity in terms of menu and/or presentation and a staff with at least a clue about the wine list ... but not here. the decor is crummy and there is no ambience. martinis were okay and maybe the sushi is better, but I'm in no hurry to find out. I have been to the Fish House twice and both times the sushi and meals were phenomenal. The last time I was there I split the pecan crusted Salmon and the portion was more than enough for the two of us, not to mention delicious. We also ordered the spicey tuna rolls. They as well were excellent. Another friend ordered the trout with some sort of lobster meat topping and that was too die for! The service was very freindly. Plus, after having a nice meal on a Friday night you can hang out in Mount Adams whcih has a great night life!

I'm completely serious when I say I routinely get better sushi at grocery stores. The rice was hours old, the rolls were cold, and the salmon had a bone in it! The snapper was completely flavorless. My companion ordered the tuna special without asking the price - big mistake. It cost twice as much as an average entree, more than the surf & turf, for a 4-ounce tuna steak. In general, the prices were exorbitant and the quality delivered was abysmal. Anybody who knows anything about dining will be enraged to spend their money here. Upsides: the planked trout and the overpriced tuna special were pretty good. Pros: Decent service Cons: Terrible food, Overpriced
