I just moved here, I owned my own business and started off on adventure to find a new stylist and spa. I of course demanded excellence as most do and Cincinnati is a big city. I was recommended to 3 major salons here, I read the reviews and I was willing to try all my recommendations, as I have.
I will say for cutting edge talent and quality of service @ identity all my needs were met. Coming from a large city myself I realize competition is a factor but from the reviews posted below... I could not find one that was valid. I was treated to the Signature Collection and added a Highlight and Cut and I could not be more pleased and satisfied. The staff was accomodating and I did not feel pushed, snobbed, or hurried in my 6 + hours during my visit. New Management? New Staff?
I was impressed! So much so, I posted here.
Rachel
Pros: Friendly
Cons: Reviews from the past.....

I was glad to see I was not alone in my opinion of Identity spa. I had been going there with my sister for a couple of years and I went before Christmas back in 98 and had a terrible hair cut. As soon as I got home my husband said it was uneven in the back and then my mother said the same thing two days later. Christmas was two days later so given the fact that we had family events coming up and my children were home for two weeks, I knew I couldn't get back in to have it "fixed" for at least a week. I called to tell them what had happened and asked if I could make an appt to get it fixed. They said they would "fix" it but I would have to pay for another hair cut because it had been over a week since I had been there and my "some people go that often to get their haircut". I went to Mitchell's to have it fixed (closer) and mentioned to the lady cutting my hair what had happened. When I was finished she told me she did it this time as a no charge and just hoped to see me back - that was 10 years ago - Never again will I go to Identity. Customer service means everything now days - especially when you are putting this kind of money out to "look and FEEL good".

I have been going to Identity for 3 years, different artists, but my hair was border-line disaster most of the time. Unexperienced staff, bad customer service and expensive.

I went to Identity for the first time with my best friends wedding party. We had appointments to receive manicures and pedicures the day before the wedding. When we first arrived the girl checking us in was very nice and professional. We had a total of 5 people in our group so it wasn't a huge party. When the mother of the bride gave her name the receptionist said she did not have an appointment. My friend, the bride, knew she had made an appointment for her mother! The manager came out and instead of trying to fix the problem, she argued with the bride!! I have been working in customer service and I could not believe her attitude!! Finally, the found a technician that could "fit her in." Once we got to our chairs and tried to relax it all went down hill from there. My technician barely would speak to me or look at me! Not very personable! She rushed through my pedicure as fast as she could. When I asked her why we were down so soon, she said she was just faster then everyone else. My feet were still rough!! What the hell!! She didn't even file my toenails before she started slapping the paint on!! My the manicure was just as bad. When I complained about my service they took $5 off my bill. Thanks! It still cost me $60 just to stick my feet in a bowl of warm water and have polish slapped on. A 10 year old could do a better job. They told me they would send me coupons in the mail. I told them there was no way I would ever come back even if it were free. I have had many pedicure and manicures in my day and this was the worst. Bad technicians, bad service, bad vibes, bad everything!! Stay away.

Don't jeapordize your safety!!!!
I got a haircut and manicure at Identity. Firstly, when I walked in, the staff was extremely rude and stuck-up. Definitely not a friendly greeting from the start.
I had an appt for a haircut with someone of a "high mastery level" but apparently she left so they told me they put me with someone of the same level. Once the girl took me to the back, she told me that she just graduated from cosmetology school and had been at the salon for 3 weeks - def. not the "high mastery level" that takes years to get. The haircut looked like I had cut it myself - uneven and not anything like I asked. And of course, they charged me the higher price as if I were with the higher level stylist.
Secondly, when I got my manicure, I thought the girl was on drgs because she was shaking so badly and not making any sense when she talked. When she started to clip my cuticle, she took a huge gouge out of it, and I started to blid everywhere. She couldn't get it to stop and had to get other nail technicians to come over and help. At that point, I was done with her touching my nails. I asked to talk with the manager and showed her what happened. She offered to give me a free manicure next time I came in...oh wow! How generous...NOT! It wound up getting infected and I went to the doctor to see what to do. When I talked with the same Identity manager a few days later as followup, she denied that I was even in the salon and refused to pay for my $15 antibiotic prescription. I then sent letters to the owner trying to get them to pay - they would not return my phone calls nor respond to my letters. I was able to reach the owner (Linda Cooper) once via phone and she told me to send the medical bills to her which I did via certified mail, but she never did send me a check or any reimbursement.
Why spend money at a salon where the staff is rude, the quality is bad, and risk your safety? There are too many other great salons in Cint!

First I would like to start off by saying that I did not take a "walk-in" haircut on your special day. So, whoever told you that was the reason I was running behind was wrong for telling you that. I had 2 people scheduled before you who had super thick hair and I needed extra time to finish them. I had told them to let you know that I was running behind and apparently there was a communication problem that morning. I did apologize to you for running late and for you not knowing what was going on. I also believe that you left excited and happy with your hair. I did not try to put a damper on your big day nor would I ever want to ruin anyone's experience. Congratulations on your wedding Jane, I hope you have a wonderful life together.

I decided to try a new hair removal service-threading. After CitySearch result, I phoned and booked a Friday evening appointment.
OOPS! - I arrived 10 minutes late, expecting to be turned away. The receptionist greeted me pleasantly and assured me that they could still accommodate me. I was seated in the spa area of salon for about 15-20 minutes before "Rani" came out to greet me.
IS ANYONE LISTENING? - After I explained I wanted my uneven hairline to be threaded, "Rani" started to thread my eyebrows. I moved my head away and put my hand up to stop her.
CLOSE THE DEAL! - I was further dismayed after asking a general question about the various skincare products, "Rani" launched into hard-core sales pitch - regardless of not evaluating my skin, skin care regime, current products etc. She just seemed to want to SELL something.
RE-BOOK - "Rani" accompanied me to the checkout desk, not so unusual, but then proceeded to book me for another service with her the following day. There were two other employees standing at the desk. What I wanted to say out loud was, " I wouldn't book another appointment with you if it were free or if someone paid me." What I actually said was, "I'll have to call back to schedule since I don't have my planner book with me", believing I was being polite.
RECAP: As I walked up to the salon front doors, my initial impression was positive: lovely decor, clean, pleasant check-in greeting, but once the technician employee engaged, it was all negative. I wouldn't recommend and am unwilling to re-try.

Do not rely on Identity for any beauty treatments. I had been going to this Kenwood location for over 4 years and was getting mediocre service. I felt "safe" to have my wedding hair done there along with some of my bridesmaids. Terrible mistake! Tamara decided to take a "walk-in" five minutes before my appointment the day of my wedding. While the rest of my day was too perfect to be true, Identity tried to put a huge damper on it. I am so glad I had blocked 3 hours for this event that should have only taken one. I didn't get sat until 45 minutes after my scheduled time! This appointment had been planned for over 9 months, and I had been going to the same person for about a year. If they can't get a client's wedding day right, what else should one worry about at selfish Identity?

I waited over an hour for my hair appointment, checking at the front desk several times. Finally after an hour with no status update I went to the front desk and told them I was leaving. Why should I have to wait an hour for a scheduled appointment when I arrived promptly. I am very disappointed in the service and attention I received. My appointment was with Jeanette for 7:30 on Monday, Dec. 10th. at the Kenwood salon.
