I've been taking lessons since I was in elementary school. As a college student, I continue these lessons today. It is probably not fair to claim that this is the absolute best place for lessons, but only because I haven't taken lessons anywhere else to be able to make a comparison. I've stayed here 8+ years, and for good reason. The teachers are very knowledgable and they care about their students and their musical pursuits. If you desire to play a certain style or genre of music, all you have to do is ask and they will gladly help you and lead you in the right direction. This is very appealing to older students or students with some musical experience and know what they would like to do. It is true that it is the teachers that make this place great, but as the Chinese proverb goes, "Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself." Don't forget that ultimately, it is the student that makes all of the decisions. However, it can be certain that the teachers at Academy of Music can open the door and help get you to where you can to go. You or whoever is deciding to take lessons does not have to be or want to be a very serious music student to learn or be successful here. Even I wouldn't consider myself a serious music student, but I still love music and plan on continuing my lessons for a very long time.
