So the first thing you notice when you walk in is that there's a rather large area behind the counter where you place your order. That's not because the barista need room to run. It's because there are bags and bags of fresh-roasted beans there. I've been known to go miles out of my way to get a cup at this place. There's lots of people I know that do the same thing, so you get a nice mix of Loyola students and other folks that come here strictly for the brew. Delicious, and it'll keep you awake for your travels back south.

Went to Jade dragon last week after going to deluxe and being told my design was stupid and being flirted with constantly. So i bring my design in and they bring me back to Fred who was my artists. Fred was great! Very funny down to earth person, he sat down with me for about an hour with my sketch to make sure it was exactly what i wanted. The place was very clean, he opened up everything brand new right in front of me and the tattoo turned out great! I will being seeing Fred again very soon.
Pros: really good artists very talented
Cons: A bit pricey but its worth it

From my understanding, going here is probably one of the most guaranteed spots that all the work you get done is safe and clean. From piercings to tattoos you can get it all done here til about 2am. The people here really know what they're doing but that can also make them a bit cocky - when I got my tattoo done the guy who did it was kind of pissed that I was, well, audibly in pain and I could have used a little more patience and understanding. Also my friend got piercings in a particular personal area that is not normally exposed and the guy who pierced her made it very clear that this got him going, so to speak, and was not very professional in dealing with that area on a woman. So I guess go here if you want to make sure you are safe, but be prepared to possibly feel uncomfortable a bit. There's no guarantee anyway that somewhere else would really act different.

We've only been to Chicago three times and already it feels like we've gotten into a habit of going to Billy Goat's.
When we've flown over from the UK and are tired and jet-lagged, the tavern is great to go on our first night for a carb fest. We love the 'cheseborgers' and the chance to sit and watch the world go by.
Of course it's not the cleanest, flashiest place...but there's loads of those kinds of places elsewhere.
Go, enjoy and know you've seen something bit different.
Pros: atmosphere, food
Cons: whats not to like?

My girlfriends and I save Geja's for special occasions because the fondue is divine. Get the cheese and chocolate combination -- it's $20 for a heavenly meal that will leave you full AND euphoric. Great atmosphere, too. Parking is a problem -- you'll want to go with valet, or be prepared to walk a lot.

Recently moved to Chicago and don't have the greatest hair. My collegues recommended the Marianne Strokirk Salon. First of all, the salon is a great experience and very comfortable, but more importantly I have the best cut I have ever had. Wash it, towel dry it and that's it. That to me is what makes a great haircut. And besides, it must be great. People ask me where I get my hair cut. You won't find better.
Pros: Easy, convenient, comfortable, everything and everybody reflects the great sense of style
Cons: none

I enjoy going to this great restaurant for a good steak. They make their steak to perfection and I have never had any complaints. My girl friend swears by the salads here and claims the house salad here is the best salad she has ever had. While I'm not a big fan of the whole salad thing, they seem to be pretty popular and are pretty big so they can make a pretty filling lunch. They have great service and it is definitely a great place to celebrate any special occassion.

More
I love this place. I love this place because it is quint-essential Chicago and has the best hamburgers in the entire city. Yes, this is the place that inspired the SNL bit with the Cheezeborger, cheezeborger bit. So, be prepared when you walk into this Chicago classic.
First of all, you have to find it. It looks like you are about to go underground to find the subway. The entire place is beneath Michigan Avenue, so keep your eyes open for the signs and the stairs.
When you get in, you find yourself in a bar. Yes, the Billy Goat is a bar. That's why there's smoke and why it looks like...well...a bar. The men behind the bar will let out a Cheezeborger, cheezeborger for you. They will also tell you there is no Coke but Pepsi and no fries but chips.
I recommend the double-cheeseburger which comes out "Double-Oh Cheeeze" when shouted down the line. You then get two delicious, greasy hamburgers on kaiser-type roles. You get to add the ketchup and onions. This is greasy, heart-clogging hamburgers the way they were meant to be.
This is a legendary restaurant complete with Cubs-related lore. Mike Royko, the famous columnist from Chicago, was famous for hanging out in this place. It's history and it's delicious. If you are looking for something fancy, go visit the Signature Room down the street in the Hancock Building.
