My favorite place for shopping in Chicago...Hard Boiled is one of a dying breed. A true independent store. The staff is the owner, and he loves what he sells. He's turned his passion for music and movies into a store catering to those of us who enjoy the obscure. Inquire about something no one else has heard of, and chances are you'll get an answer. I know it sounds too good to be true, but if you're an independent music and/or film lover, Hard Boiled is the only place you should be shopping.

Blockbuster is my most favorite place to rent movies from. The place has a huge selection of movies and video games to choose from. They offer DVDs and VHS. I always go here for new movies that have just come out. The new releases are almost always in stock. All you need is to sign up for the Blockbuster card to start renting movies from here. This is my number one place to rent movies from!

Nationwide vidoe is my choice video rental store in the area. For one, it is always less crowded than Blockbusters or Hollywood vide. Also, it has a better selection of non mainstream movies and videos. for instance, they have lots of foreign film selections and older films that are hard to find anywhere else. They also have some great deals here. The rental prices are a bit lower than the chains and they also have the monthly movie pass so you can get unlimited rentals. Its a nice place with good service.

This may be the best and biggest Blues record co. & label in the city that's currently running strong. They are celebrating their 35th anniv. this year; congrats guys! I love Blues music and was just at Blues fest this weekend at Grant Park. Some of their amazing artists were there performing or hanging out Corky Siegel,Ko Ko Taylor & Elvin Bishop. They have a vast amount of talented players signed with them. Charlie Musselwhite who is a harmonica master is also with them. I love this hollywood video location. Blockbusters is my usual stop for renting games and dvds, but I recently got some coupons from here so I headed on over. I was amazed with their selection and the fact that they were well stocked. Also, they have this neat program where you can come in and sell your old, used dvds or videos to them! I think that is really cool because I have so many and I defnitely made good use of this program. Obviously, they did not pay top dollar, but it was better than trashing those dvds!

First off I wasn't even going to write a review till I saw a review on here that just had a lot of information wrong on this store.
I've been coming to this location for the 10 years they have been open. Since day one there have been all kinds of deals that the owner has come up with. From his 1cent rental days. YES THATS NOT A MISPRINT! To the yearly October 6 horror movies for $6.66 special. 99 cent family videos that you get for 7 days. Even on Election day if you bring in your voter's stub you get a free rental. This is just a few. There are regular specials like a new member gets 2 free when they rent one for signing up. Rent 3 games or movies for $6.99 - $9.99 with a large bag of chips or popcorn.
Unlike the big store's even when there is always a slow long line you NEVER stand in line for long periods of time here. You are taken care of very quickly by the great staff in this place.
I can only agree with one part of the review that I found so incorrect. The price for one video is $4.50 but in 10 years of coming here i can say with the specials NO ONE just rents one video. Plus even if you do there is a lot more offered for your one video. With TV Shows and Deluxe Editions. The Tv shows are rented by the season... NOT BY THE DISC. Huge saving compared to Blockbuster and the rest. With the Special Editions brought in are always the best versions available. Many versions I have yet to even see at another store other than here. They bring in more then just special editions they bring in collector's editions that have more then the special editions. You can't buy those for $3.99 at Best Buy.
Their late fees are pretty reasonable. 99 cents on regular titles and games as well as 2.50 on new ones. I remember being late a Blockbuster once with a game and being charged six bucks!! This place is very reasonable on their prices. The best part is if your a frequent shopper. They sell a prepaid card there that you can have 30 rentals for only $35. Beats the crap out of the other store's prices as well as the bargain $3.99 basement DVDs on sale.
Saving the best for last....THEY DELIVER AND PICK UP your movies. So you never even have to leave the house.
I've been shopping here for years and rarely ever need to shop elsewhere for something. I strongly recommend trying this place out.
Oh, and their selection of DVDs. It's the best I have seen. Forget the big boys...check out this place.

Al Mansoor is one of the best place on Devon Avenue to go for any Bollywood movies or music. They have a large collection here and have all the latest films and music. They even have so many things from the older generations which are hard to find anywhere else. So either you can buy their movies or you can rent them. Also, they sell all the tickets for the Indian concerts that are going on in Chicago. This is a good cool place to check out for Indian movies and music.

You say you want friendly service? Well, you got it here! Everytime I go in here (and I mean it when I say everytime) the people working are so super nice. They go out of their way to make sure you find what you need and even make good suggestions.
Last time I went in, I was looking for the movie Home Alone. Couldn't find it out on the floor, so I asked a guy working there. He was so super nice and looked things up on his computer, and though they did not have it, helped me locate it in another store. Talk about great service.

I have been getting coupons for free rentals for this chain becuase of some promotion I signed up with. Hey, I can get my free movie and get some Ben & Jerry's ice cream or a Coca-Cola product from here now. Buying a gift card from here is a great option for me becuase I don't know what to buy most people I know for their birthday or special occasion. I do know everybody seems to love movies and Blockbuster however.

While there are a lot of sex shops in the city, this one has the best selection. The atmosphere is such that I enjoy shopping here as a woman. Other places I feel kind of out of place or looked at strangely. The staff is very friendly without making you feel self-conscious. They also have one of the best selection of "wilder" toys.
