Cozy up next to the fireplace in the winter, hang out on the outdoor patio in the summertime, and enjoy a damn fine burger and a beer.

This joint is a cross between Belmont kids and Lincoln Parkers sick of places like Cherry Red. The dark interior is perfect; there's enough light to clearly see what you are eating and drinking (but not much more).
The service is nothing special (not bad, not outstanding) and definitely better at the bar.
Cheese fries are a must (real cheese, not sauce) and the steak salad--with accompanying jalapeno pesto, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes--ridiculously good. The wine and martinis, while a bit high-priced, are delicious; I like the Pinot Noir. Only jukebox in Chicago where I've seen the Snow Patrol album--so much better than this winter's British craze, Arctic Monkeys.

I have yet to find a better Chicago establishment than Rose Angelis. I've dined here several times and have always had above average food and service. All of their pasta dishes are amazing. My all-time favorite dish is the "mezzalune al burro," which consists of spinach ravioli pasta with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts in a light butter sauce. Their marinara sauce is excellent. They also have unique specials every night. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the desserts because I'm always too full to try them. Perhaps one of these days I'll save room. The atmosphere is cozy; perfect for a date or a group. I've brought many people to this restaurant and no one has ever said anything but good things. Five stars!

Everest is one of Chicago's best restaurants. In a city full of excelling dining options, that's saying something. Located on an upper floor in an office building in the Loop, Everest not only offers exquisitely prepared french food but also awesome views. You will pay a lot for the pleasure of eating here (figure $200 per person with wine and tip) but it's worth saving your pennies and treating yourself and someone special to a dining experience you will never forget.

This is a great little bar in Chicago. It's officially a gay bar, but it's the kind of joint to which you could bring your mother. Decent drink prices, nice atmosphere. In good weather, they have the patio open out back. What makes this place great, however, is the promotion they have on Mondays. Every Monday, they offer a grilled burger and fries (with all the 'fixins') for $1. That's right...only one dollar! Burger tastes great and you can't beat the price!

This is a fun little bar!! People here seem like fun-loving, energetic, down to earth people who don't mind having others around to share space with. I hear they frequently have live Irish music here, which is a refreshing contrast to the rest of the bars in the area that typically play the same 10 songs as any given radio station. The staff is friendly and helpful, happy to serve your drinks, and the decor is actually reminiscent of an actual Irish establishment. Or at least as far as I can imagine! I definitely recommend this place for either a weeknight or a weekend, as it seems like it would be a lot of fun no matter when you go.

While in Chicago we went to the Briar Street Theater and saw the Blue Man Group. If you have a chance to see them, you should. What a great time. We bought a DVD so the kids could watch it when we got home. FUN!
