The sushi places in Chicago just don't end. But this place in Wicker Park is defintely one that sticks out for me at least. The sushi here is amazing and always really fresh. I never go by their actual standrad menu, but always ask for the house specialties. Those are the ones to have because they are given extra love and attention and their fantastic taste definitely shows that! Its not the most inexpensive sushi in the area, but it is good. Also, this restaurant is BYOB so that saves a bit on the bill too.

My entire trade desk was thrilled when the Shikami brothers opened up Shikago nearby in the Loop! This is the best place for sushi in the Loop. Also, check-out the rest of the modern contemporary global menu and gallery-like dining space. The menu is always inventive and delicious since the chef only uses fresh seasonal ingredients. Perfect place for lunch if you dine-in or take-out during the busy work week and a great secret spot for after-work gatherings or dinner before or after theater, etc. The wine list is awesome and available for retail as well! Located next door to the W Hotel on Adams/Lasalle. For private parties, the upstairs law library on the 40th floor designed by Philip Johnson is the best kept secret in the entire city! Stunning!

I am no stranger to sushi. Tonight i tried Hot Woks Cool Sushi for the first time and was very impressed. The orange exterior is very inviting, and when you go in the people are even more inviting! The sushi chief was very talented and the place was borderline beyond clean. Being a famous food reviewer like myself i try to slip into a corner and not give myself away... but the owner still found me out and had a conversation with me about her ideas on how to make a extensive menu at a sushi place. she was very friendly. i would recommend hot woks to everyone! oh and be sure to BYOB or insist to her to get a liquor license !!!! chow!
Pros: food
Cons: no alcohol

My roommate and I went here last week after reading about it on Citysearh.com and we loved it! It will be our number one sushi spot, especially since we only live 3 blocks away from it! We both got different things - she had sushi and I had maki - and we both loved our choices. Very good price, extremely friendly staff, very fresh and 'non-fishy' seafood!! We will be back...possibly tonight! :-)
Pros: Price, Staff, Freshness

This is not an upscale restaurant. Yes, it does not have a lot of seatings, but we never had a problem to find a place. Staff is very freindly, atmosphere is beautiful. No loud music... You can actually talk and enjoy your dinner. Food is always very delicious, we were never dissapointed.
Absolutly love the spicy maki combination. Their Mochi icecream is unbelievable. It is also B.Y.O.B.
NOT good for groups, just not enough space. Bur great for dinner for 2 or 4.
Love this restaurant...
Pros: Food, service, atmosphere.
Cons: Not very big.

The cuisine is a wonderful blend of the familiar and uniqe, and French and American. NoMI strives to use independent and family-run food vendors in an effort to get the best ingredients.
Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert are the menus offered; I've only been for dinner. The sushi rolls are delicious (although very expensive, from $7-23) as is the increasingly-hard-to-find foie gras. Main courses are made up of beef, venison, chicken fish, and sweetbread. NoMi, of course, has an impressive wine list--the online PDF is 63 pages.
Be sure to save room for dessert, or get the chocolate "Share Plate."
If you want a taste of NoMI but are living on limited means, you can eat in the lounge. The Black Angus sirloin burger is still $21, but it is damn good.

The sushi is very fresh, the prices are very reasonable and the service is great. We have sushi at least once a week and each time we go, we never have a complaint. I had brought my family and friends there and they all love it as much as we do. Great job Ozzie (Sushi Chef)! A must try!!!
Pros: Very Fresh Sushi, Great Service, Outdoor Seating, BYOB
Cons: Parking, but take-out is always an option.
