The crumbling mess that is known as Wrigley Field sits like some kind of gigantic dog turd in the middle of Wrigleyville spewing its rancid stink through the stench of stale vomit from the bars located around the park. The fact that this putrid place is the location for some of the worst baseball in the city let alone the major leagues just makes the entire eye-sore more painful to deal with.
True and great baseball is played across town in the modern, roomy, well-built mecca of world championship baseball known as U.S. Cellular Field. The White Sox play ball the way it is supposed to be played, namely, they win and they win championships.
They have a stadium with great food and plenty of parking. They have a park laid out so you can visit the restroom or go for concessions and still see the game. They have a park where you don't have to pee in a trough.
Avoid Wrigley Field and the Flubs like a plague. Leave the Wrigley Field disaster for those who prefer to back a loser and see baseball in the world's largest open-air bar.

So I have a love-hate relationship with this place.
Love: During the summer, this is an awesome place to come and enjoy a cubs game. I'm no avid baseball fan, but the atmosphere here is great and very lively. Plus, after the games, the surrounding area gets really lively and it is all a good time.
Hate: When I, myself, am not attending a game, I hate having to weave through traffic here!! I live close enough to Wrigley that the traffic really impacts me. UGHHHH.

This happens to be the best place in the city of Chicago. Yes, I am a north sider. For us real Cub fans there will always be next year, and we have no problems with that as long as the field stays the way that it is with the ivy and old style beer. This is the perfect hang out place for any sunny work day when you are playing sick.

For the record, I enjoy baseball. Also for the record, I am not a Cubs fan and therefore am not hindered by nostalgia. Wrigley Field is definitely a once in a lifetime experience--and an experience that should only need to happen once in a lifetime.
Sitting in the stands, you can easily see everyone on the field and you almost feel as though you could reach out and touch the grass. That is, if the 36 year-old frat-boy type in front of you would stop swaying from side-to-side with his Jack Daniel's (concealed in a flask brought out of his pants every 5 minutes) and sit down to actually watch the game.
In one game, I witnessed at least 10 Cubs fans (recognizable by their oversize jerseys and the strands of red/blue beads) being escorted out of the stadium by security for drunkenness. And I was in the lower section--who knows what was going on above me.
Wrigley Field does have spunk and style--but it needs a major renovation. Right now, it is only holding the Cubs back from being a real baseball team, and not just background noise for this over sized bar.
Key notes: Easy to get to by CTA (Red Line or buses). I recommend not driving as parking can be expensive and traffic after a game is homicidal. There are many great restaurants in this area, so while a hot dog always tastes better at a baseball game, check out some local places before/after for a more complete meal. My favorites: Uncommon Ground and Heaven on 7th.

Wrigley Field in and of itself is a magnificent facility in most every way. It's world famous and first class all around. Speaking of class, there are a couple problems that are not necessarily the fault of Wrigley. A lot has changed. Too much. Some of the fans have very little class (drunkin' kids out of control, yuppies shouting on cell phones and a lot of people that are there for every reason but baseball). It's very sad.
Yes, there are still some great folks in the stadium that do seem to care, but iIf you really love baseball and respect the game, you may want to go to another facility to really hear, watch and enjoy baseball. But if you want to just have a good time and can get past the flaws of some of the "fans" then it's worth it. If you are annoyed by screaming yups and frat boys, go to the upper deck and you will have a much better time, still have a good view of the park, and you'll sit with more of the "real" folks.

I don't care if you are a resident of Chicago or a tourist, a man or a woman, an adult or a child, this is a place you just cannot miss! A cub's game at Wrigley is one of the best experiences to take part with in the city. The Cubs are not my favorite baseball team, but a game at their home stadium is one of my favorite things to do. The fans here are so much fun and the beer and food here are great too. I would go here any day, rain or shine because it is a blast to be here.

Wrigley Field is the ultimate in north side mentality! This is the type of place where it doesn't matter if you like baseball or not. You go to Wrigley for the feel. People buy their tickets well in advance not caring if the team is going to be doing well, but to hang out with their friends and have a good time. Every south sider who I talk to about the north side hates the fact that we don't care about how the team is doing, but that is just us. Regardless of where you live, you should come on up here and join the team. Everybody is welcome!

My little son is a huge fan of baseball, so I try to bring him out here at least once during the regular season. He thoroughly enjoys the experience, even though he is so young. The great thing is, so do I. The crowd here is so much fun. This place is filled with die hard fans and people just out to have a good time. The crowd is pleasant and there's great food here too. So, whether or not you are a big fan of baseball, this is a cool place to just come and hang out during the summer. Its an exciting place and you'll be sure to have fun.

"Do they still sing the blues in Chicago?" is the lyric from Steve Goodman's great song about his years as a Cub fan.
Cub fan or not, this place is worth a visit if you like baseball. It is a great ballpark with ivy covered walls and rabid fans who fill the place, whether the Cubs win or lose.
After much controversy, lights were added a few years ago so now you can see night games too.
But there is still a traditional feel to the space, and it is surprisingly intimate for you and 40,000 or so of your closest friends.
