Atmosphere: Though very small inside, this well priced italian trattoria is very romantic... dimly lit at night with wonderful decor including partially exposed brick walls and a reproduced column from ancient greece... decorations are sparce, but the mood is great for a quiet dinner...There is little room between tables, so you if the people at the next table are talking too loud you can easily hear the conversation...
Food: The first thing i noticed walking in was that the menu was a xerox copy, not printed.. though a little taken aback, i discovered this is done because the menu at Roma changes all the time based on the ingredients they get... there are, however, a number of items always available such as the pizzas and the manager (who has worked with the owner for quite a long time) was willing to custom make a pasta dish if we didn't see anything we liked! We tried the quattro fromaggi pizza and a custom made rigatoni with eggplant.... both were EXCELLENT. I love pizza and the mixture of cheeses on the pizza was exquisite! My wife hates the taste and smell of bleu cheese, but still LOVED this pizza. I will say that it was a tad runny... the pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was amazingly fresh. We were so full we couldn't eat dessert, but were tempted by the tiramisu in the dessert case near our table... it looked decadent with the right mix of lady fingers without excessive filling (as is the case for most tiramisu i have eaten) ... it is supposedly homemade by one of the staff's grandmother's or mother's (can't remember which) ....
Service: the manager greeted us warmly and readily explained the menu and the ability to make custom pastas to order (very helpful since my wife and i are vegetarian). The restaurant was packed so the waitress was busy, but she checked with us during our meal to see how things were
Overall, i highly recommend. Food is better than the place around the corner: Dinotto, a citysearch 10best.
Pros: great FRESH food, good service, walking distance from Sedgwick Brown line stop
Cons: small space

With an interesting and large selection of pasta and secondi dishes and some tasty pizzas this spot is hard to beat at its moderate price point. Take advantage of the buy-one/get-one-free coupon for your entrees, and the value is terrific. Unlike a previous reviewer, we found the service just fine and our food was great. We shared a pasta primavera and a tasty veal dish and had plenty to eat. I would cook the pasta just a little more al dente and go a little lighter on the oil, but these are minor complaints.
Pros: An interesting menu, well-prepared food, good service
Cons: Limited street parking (valet parking available)

Was searching for a good Italian food Restaurant in the lincoln park neighborhood and I stumbled across this place. As an affadit cook of Italian food and frequent restaurant visitor I was shocked by the place from the moment I walked in. The place was very very small and crowded I had reservations and was dumbfounded by the fact that my table was joined to another couples table for lack of space. The food was average at best and did not merit the cost. The service was terrible our waiter rushed our orders was sweaty and did not give us the time of day instead he was more concerned about clearing other tables. Had to practically beg a bus boy for refills on our drinks because our waiter was practicing his disappearing act all evening. IF lookin for nice romantic place avoid this one.
Cons: no parking ,small ,crowded ,terrible service, very loud!!!!!!

Trattoria Roma has been a tradition in my family for about 2 years now. Every Thursday night, my husband and I head out to the cozy restaurant and enjoy a delicious dinner. In fact, the gorgeous patio is where my husband proposed! We had the reception in the fabulous upstairs dining room, and my friends and family loved every minute of it. I always eat WAY to much, the excellent food is simply to die for. We start with the grilled calamari and move from there. In all, this resturant is amazing and you must try it for yourself. Who knows, bring your significant other, and they might just propose!!
Pros: delicious pizza
Cons: you dont want to share it with the family, they might take over because its so good!

Although it was a busy day, there is no excuse for serving overcooked food. It just wasn't that good. Also, the Valet parking uses the on street metered parking spaces for parking. Even if they are NOT employed by the restaurant, the owners should share responsibility. The food was somwhat expensive, too. Perhaps we ate on a bad day, but I don't think this restaurant is worth the time or money.
