Friendly and informed staff who are very willing to answer questions. This service makes Uncle Dan's that much more attractive when you're looking for the right backpack or quick-drying towel.
Parking is horrible on this stretch of Lincoln, though. The Fullerton Red/Brown/Purple Line is only a 10-min. or less walk away.

They offer a good selection of hiking packs, day packs, shoes, apparel, camping gear and much more. Prices are what they are at similar places, but the sale prices can be very good.

I was pretty satesfied with my experience at Uncle Dan's. I mean- they have EVERYTHING, and that's nothing to scoff at, is it? Anything and everything you need is here for camping, hiking, fishing, trail. The prices (as someone mentioned) are just okay, but not horrible- it's not a re-sale shop or a surplus store, and it's better than Eddie Bauer. About REI- type prices, only I don't think Uncle Dan's is a chain. It's in Lincoln Park and in a pretty neat area, I may add. I'd recommend it for your camping needs, and those hard to find items!

Uncle Dan's has a lot of outdoor supplies, like camping and fishing gear. Whether you need a new pair of Tevas or a camping stove, this place probably has it. I think their prices are just ok, but their staff is generally pretty friendly. Parking is a real pain on Lincoln Avenue almost any time of day, so that's a strike against it, but that's just life in the city.
