Geja's cafe is a cheaper alternative to the Melting Pot. They also serve fondue as their main attraction. Their fondue is good, but I think it falls short of the Melting Pot's excellent presentation. But there are a few fondues here that are woth trying. The shrimp foundue is very tasty and also the dessert fondue where you can make your own smores is awesome too. This place also has long wait times so try to make reservations before you come in!

  • Cheaper than Melting Pot

I like Melting Pot, the prices are too darn high, so a better bet is Geja's. It's tucked away and dark, so it's pretty romantic save for the smoky smell (it's the hot oil smell, I think). The price is right - about $23 for cheese fondue, salad, chicken and veggie fondue, and chocolate fondue for dessert - and there is plenty of food to enjoy. Some people complain that they don't want to pay to cook their own food, but I think it's more of an experience thing. The cheese fondue is excellent, and the bread they serve with it is as well. The dipping sauces for the veggies and meats are good, too, and who can beat melted chocolate that you can flame a marshmallow on? It's a nice special treat!

I was told that this is a very romantic restaurant to visit. Let me tell you, that there is nothing romantic about this place, so dark and pricey but the food is so so. I threw up when I got home, maybe because I had to cook the seafood in oil, I just could not tell what it was in the fondue because the place is so dark. If you want something romantic, go somewhere else.

If you seriously want to impress your date, take them here! This is the ultimate romantic restaurant, with dim lighting and a live guitar player. Also, the food here is fantastic! Everything on their menu is amazing, but I would really have to push the cheese fondue as a starter and finish your meal off with the chocolate fondue. Everything about this place is amazing and I can gaurantee that you will really impress your date if you take them here! They even have valet parking, so no searching around for parking.

  • Great romantic restaurant...perfect for proposals

Geja's Cafe is a small fondue restaurant tucked away in the heart of Lincoln Park. The food is fabulous and so romantic! If you let the hostess know when you're making your reservation that it is for a special occasion, they will try to seat you at one of the best tables in the place!

You have a choice of different meals, we went with the three types of fondue--cheese, oil for meats and chocolate for dessert. If you leave this place and you're still hungry, there's something wrong with you! The cheese is served with pieces of bread, apples and grapes. You have a selection of meats and vegetables to choose from, and then for dessert, you are served fruit, pound cake, and marshmallows to dip in chocolate.

    Heavenly!

Although it is VERY pricey for the amount of food you get, Geja's is a Chicago institution. If you've never had fondue at a restaurant before, this is the only place you'll ever need to go. Their meals come in packages that you can buy with varying price tags. I would pick the cheapest one if it's your first time. Go at least once.

Geja's Cafe has been around forever, and the great service and food show it! They have a very nice menu with lots of choices and the cheese fondue is a must-try! It's a very casual restraunt but the atmosphere is still very sophisticated and comfortable. On weekend nights, they have a guitar player, which makes the experience even better. This is a great place to go for some great food and a very relaxed atmosphere.
