We tried Piece last night - we dropped $80+ for dinner and several pitchers of beer; we decided to watch Karaoke and moved to the bar area. Our server told us that we could sit at her table but she wouldn't wait on us if we weren't eating. We weren't ordering a pizza ($20) so she'd be missing a $4 tip. She would have made more of a tip if she'd just been friendly and done her job. Instead we went to a place called Pint - and spent over $200. She could've had a $40 tip if only she'd decided that drinking-only patrons were worth her time. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're just looking for a place to drink and hang out. Much better places in the neighborhood.
Pros: karaoke, pizza, beer
Cons: service, rude waitstaff, long wait

I've only had Piece's pizza and it is really good. I love that their ingredients are not the run of the mill type of toppings. But, Piece's pizza is on the expensive side. I've only called in orders for pickup so I cannot comment on the sit down service. It looks like a nice place to hang out.
Pros: Good Pizza

I'm from New Haven, so I know....this place has all the ingredients just right. But either their ovens aren't hot enough, or they aren't cooking it long enough, because they never get the crust--which is the point in New Haven pizza--quite right! It never has the perfect balance of crunchiness on the outside and chewiness on the inside. But they get a lot of credit for trying to make real pizza, as opposed to that deep dish thing Chicago calls pizza. (It can be good, but it should have another name!)

I live in NYC and travel to Chicago quite a bit for business. Whenever I go out with clients, I insist on going to "Piece" because the pizza is clearly the best in the world, the ambience is fantastic, and the beer is just awesome -- I get the most intense buzz after just two of those chippy micro-brews. I've been to all the so-called best pizza places in New York, New Haven, etc., but "Piece" blows them all away. I can talk for hours about all the gorgeous women I've picked up there too, but that's another story for another day.
Pros: Best Pizza
Cons: not open 24 hours

Piece is not only the best pizza in Chicago, but I would go as far as saying that it is the best pizza in the country. I have had Pizza in New York, in New Haven, in Los Angeles, I have even had pizza in Iowa and Piece just takes pizza to another level. I have been waiting for the day when thin crusted pizza would arrive in Chicago and Piece is a dream come true.
Pros: Tastes Great, Looks Great, Is Great
Cons: Only one location

I left Piece with a cloying aftertaste in my mouth. I'm not quite sure if it was disappointment or the flavor of luke-warm canned mushrooms. Whether thin crust is New Haven style or otherwise, it need not be bland and lifeless like that dished up at Piece. The english ale-style beer I had was fine even if it was slightly off the mark for being an english ale. When viewed as a large bar that happens to have pizza, Piece ain't so bad.
Pros: Decent Beer, Lotta TVs, Cheap Trick dude
Cons: Dat pie ain't right

I don't know why I kept giving this place business. The service is unfriendly and uninviting. They always seem to get one thing about the order wrong. You wait a long time to get your food. They roll their eyes if you want a refill on your pop. If it wasn't for the former Real World house being across the street, there wouldn't be that much traffic. And lastly, they don't even acknowledge that you've come or gone. This place is truly a "piece" of crap.
