Penny's is a thai restaurant that is always consistently good. When I'm in the mood for thai food and don't want to take chances, I always go here because I know I will be getting a good thai meal here.
Their menu is large and has many great dishes on it. My favorite are the veggie noodle dishes. Their food is really tasty and they give you so much of it.
This place is kind of small so you might have to wait, but don't be disheartened because the food is really worth it.

Penny's is like all the other noodle shops scattered around Chicago. Cheap dependable Thai food. While the entrees at Penny's are nothing out of the ordinary, it's a great place to go when you're on a budget and want some standard Thai food. Although Penny's can get bustling, the wait is usually not too long, and service is quick efficient.

Delivery is also very quick, unless they're super-busy, but even then I've never had to wait more than 40 minutes.
I also like to eat-in at the Diversey location, mostly because of the daring artwork, but also because there usually isn't a wait and it's an inexpensive place to have a relatively nice dinner date.

The nice thing about Penny's is the predictability about the place. There are multiple locations which all comply to the Penny standard, so whether you are in Wicker Park or Lakeview, you can depend on Penny's. The menu isn't extensive, but you can build a meal on the appetizers and salads or soups, or opt for a noodle dish. I really like the Pad See-ew and Hot Pepper Noddles, but the Pad Thai is always a safe and good choice at Penny's. Most dishes come with a heap of red cabbage and carrots, not sure why, but the texture and crunch help complement the soft noodles. Also, make sure that you get the Thai Iced Tea. So sweet, so yummy. Prices are fairly cheap, and the place is clean and open. They use a lot of windows in the design of the place, so it is good people watching sitting inside.

This is a wonderful and inexpensive thai restaurant. They have a really great menu and everything is really tasty here. I love the service here. Though the restaurant is small, the waiters do a good job of making the wait times short. They are also really attentive here and will always follow any special instructions. The only gripe I have with going here is that parking can be really really hard to find. So use public transportation if possible when going here.

Penny's is absolutely, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Chicago. The ingredients are super fresh, and prepared in such a way that lets the ingredients shine, but still compliments them. The service is always friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I usually get the Vegetarian bowl, but in cooler weather I'd opt for one of the noodles soups. The spring rolls are very good, and the chilled broccoli is also good, if a little pricey.
