Nookies Tree became my usual spot for a late breakfast or lunch when I lived in the area. The menu has a little bit of everything, as well as some daily specials. I am a creature of habit, so I fell in love with the Turkey a la Normandy, a turkey burger with a ton of blue cheese crumbles and fresh spinach leaves. The sandwiches come with a cup of soup, or some other stuff that I never order, like fries. Nookies has salads and regular burgers, more typical sandwiches, as well as really good breakfasts. They usually have unique selections of pancakes or something in the comfort food category. The service is adequate, with a few bright spots here and there, but the place is usually quite busy, so I guess they do their best (I try to think the best of people, a problem, I know). Prices are reasonable, with a lunch or breakfast for two running around $20. Oh, and get the juice. It's fresh-squeezed, and really tasty.

I really enjoy having breakfast at Nookies. It goes beyond the diner fare and offers more inventive dishes. Of course, it's a bit more expensive than a diner. I love their waffles and omelets. The service is okay, nothing awful but nothing terrific. It can get very crowded on the weekend mornings, so either come early or be prepared to wait.

Nookies Tree is the best place to go if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere after a long night at the clubs. Bragging an extensive menu with many different tastes, Nookies is known for their breakfast foods, such as omelets, waffles, and eggs. Featuring great food and fast service, the only drawback of the whole restaurant (and I do mean the ONLY drawback) is the fact that they do not take any form of payment other than cash. They do have an ATM available, but the fees are outrageous to use it.
Nookies Tree, located on Halsted, is open 24 hours on Friday through Sunday, closing at midnight on Sundays.
