My wife had me take her here because her favorite movie, "Return to Me" was filmed here. Great barbecue, great food. Nice large portions on the ribs and the burgers. The jukebox had lots of great vocal and jazz tunes as well. They had a nice selection of domestic and foreign beers.
I don't know if I'm ready to annoint it as the best barbecue in the Chicago area, but it's right up there with Hecky's in Evanston, my favorite.
One problem, though, is that the restaurant isn't very accessible. There's a really big step in front of the door and it's pretty hard to get a wheelchair over. We managed, but with difficulty.
Still, we're glad we went twice and will likely go again.
Incidentally, a banking acqaintance told me that he was tending bar the day Sinatra came in. Ribs and drinks flowed all night. Great story.

I'm a bit of a Sinatra freak, so I had to check this place out, and I wasn't at all disappointed! It's great! It has Rat Pack memorabilia covering the walls and Frank playing on the speakers. The ribs are great! Best barbecue sauce in the city! It is a small place and can be very crowded and noisy. It's a great little place to go on a Sunday night.

Twin Anchors has pretty good food. You have a choice to get your ribs drenched in BBQ sauce or have them a little on the dry side. The cole slaw is soooooooooooo good that I had to get more than one serving. It's fresh, sweet and juicy! The ribs are large in size so yeah they do hang over the plate. I advise you to ask for another plate and cut the slab in half.
I like the fact they are open in the day, night and on weekends. The place is always full with people laughing and enjoying themselves. I suggest you carpool because parking is not very good. If you choose valet parking then dish out a few more dollars. You can get alcohol here as well. It's not cheap here and it's not over priced. You won't go broke here. $20 can get you somewhere.

I am not a drinker and don't particularly enjoy the atmosphere of bars that have no live music or other inducements, but I did go in a few times and have a meal.
It was ok, pretty standard stuff. Folks always seemed to be enjoying themselves here; it was always a popular joint, just not my cup of tea.

When I'm hungry and have been without barbecue, my mind wanders to Twin Anchors. Wet or dry, the ribs are delectable. The portions seem like just the right size (they hang over the sides of the already-large plate but can be finished in one sitting), and the sides (oh, cole slaw!) don't disappoint either.
I've come in on weeknights and weekends and encountered extended lines every time. It's a favorite for many, so anticipate leaving your name and wandering the neighborhood (which ,with its Old Town location, isn't the worst thing in the world). There's valet parking, but otherwise space is tight.
History enthusiasts will enjoy knowing Twin Anchors served as a speakeasy during Prohibition. Thankfully, you can still wet your whistle at the bar. Just don't forget about the ribs.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous...IF you like ribs. Probably the best ribs in town, this place is great. On a Friday or Saturday night, this place is always packed so bring your appetite and your patience. Great beer selection and the servers know how to get you in and out in a hurry. Would definitely return.
