This place is great. If you are a health food nut and your girlfriend likes greasy onion rings then you have come to the right place. You can get the hot dog with everything and side order of french fries, while your friend gets a salad with bread (hold the butter). There is a lot of seating here, and I have never had to wait for someone to get up. They also have a drive thru for your convenience. Great food. Great Service

This place is awesome!! Me and my buddies make it out here at least once every couple of weeks. It is so casual and affordable and the food is tasty. My favorite here are their pasta dishes. They make them fresh while you wait and they always taste great. But past isn't the only thing on their menu. They have lots of great sandwhiches and even a bunch of great desserts. If you have not eaten here yet you are really missing out on a great place.

I really did this eclectic retro-fresh atmosphere. It’s fun and it reminds me of a comic book. They have very good salads and hot sandwiches. But please do not order the chicken breast. I have tried it over a dozen times, I kid you not, and I always get that really gross fat-string that you’ll find in low quality chicken breasts. It’s a shame that a place like this would even sell something like that. Their staff is also really good at messing you orders, our order gets messed up every time we go. But alas, we are still drawn back to the place. Maybe we’re fools or maybe we just like the Italian beef that much!

Portillo's is a cafeteria style establishment that serves outstanding hotdogs and mouth watering french fries. They also have a good selection of sandwiches and burgers, but I can never get past the hot dogs. They're cooked perfectly and are extremely juicy. It can get pretty crazy during lunch time but service is pretty quick.

Portillo's is a great place to go with family or friends for a good meal. Their menu is extensive and they serve everything from hamburgers to salads and pastas. Basically, there's something for everyone here. The restaurant is casual and very nicely decorated. There's walkup service, so you order then pick up when it is ready. I love the food here because it is always so tasty. The only problem I always encounter here is the jam packed drive thru and at certian times it can be impossible to find parking!

Portillo's is now a Chicago area phenomena; they have locations all over the area. I remember going to their original spot in Villa Park when I was but a lad. I will focus on their Ontario street location; but as far as I know each location has the same menu so most of this information will apply wherever you find one. They do a great job on all the basics: burgers, beef sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. If you like fish, try my favorite which is the grilled tuna. For $4 you get a nice sized slab of grilled tuna steak with all the trimmings on a sesame bun. It's delicious. If you use the drive through at the Ontario St. location, you need to enter on Clark, which is one way South at this point. http://www.portillos.com/portillos/look/

A must for visitors to Chicago, Portillo's hot dogs are hard to beat. Though the hot dog buns are a bit squishy, the hot dogs with the trimmings (ketchup, mustard, onions, peppers) are great. The salads are great too, particularly the chopped salad with house dressing. And to top it off - excellent chocolate cake!

When you come to the Windy City, there's two things you are required to eat - deep dish pizza and dogs. Portillo's has a reputation for a great place to get authentic Chicago hot dogs. These aren't your typical dogs - the regular dogs are all beef and come with mustard, onions, tomato slices, a pickle spear and something called sport peppers (I had mine on the side) and in a poppy seed bun. The restaurant is done in an old fashioned, Al Capone style, and even has a vintage car mounted near the ceiling. The dog was decent, the fries were fantastic... and the price was awesome. The dogs are only $2 each!
