Rivers is a great happy hour bar and restaurant located on the Chicago River between Madison and Monroe. The place is huge! There is a lot of seating inside and even more outside. With its great Loop location, it's the perfect spot to meet friends for drinks after work. Thursdays and Fridays get very busy really quickly, so if you are trying to accommodate a large group, you might want someone to get there early for the table. The waitstaff is friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced (for downtown), but the atmosphere and location make it worth it! I've only tried the french fries, so I can't comment on the quality of the food.

A rich mahogany wood interior, spacious bar and elegant Italian marble floors give this restaurant a sleek, contemporary appeal. Its seasonal outdoor deck overlooking the Chicago River offers diners one of the best outdoor views of the city's bridges and skyscrapers. It's in a hustling, bustling part of downtown but makes a nice retreat from it. Right across the street from the Civic Opera House, the place does a strong pre-performance business.
