Usually my gay friends insist on Las Mananitas, but I never complain. It's got a great patio, it's right in the heart of Boystown, so there is always something to laugh at, and don't forget the margaritas, which are big and strong. The dishes are entrée-based, with the requisite beans and rice on the side. Appetizers, and well, everything is standard for the cuisine, so don't expect anything too special or unique here, other than the majority of the patrons are flaming. So i guess if that turns you off, well, you shouldn't be living in Chicago in the first place. The atmosphere is festive, and I am not trying to call out anyone's stereotype, it really is energetic and everyone seems to be having a good time, thanks to the tequila and the friendliness of the place. The guests are friendly, and the servers and bartenders are friendly, so it can seem like one big love fest, but like i said, thank you, tequila. The prices are reasonable, considering the huge portions in both food and drink. It can get really busy, so expect to wait a while for a table, but just get a drink and sit in the crowded bar. They will come get you shortly, and most likely, gay-ly.

Las Mananitas is a pretty good place to get Enchiladas,Tacos, Quesadillas, and hot wings. I thought they had a very popular dish and I asked what they were known for and I was disappointed that it was for a drink. A Margarita! It's really good to hang out here because you won't run into crazy baseball fans who just want to drink and eat. After a game you can count on this place being packed. In the winter you can see many faces not just Mexicans but all races here. In the summer time it's mostly a "white" crowd because of baseball season. It's not over priced but I expected a bit more in the food department.

Las Mananitas is, well, better than the average fake-mexican restaurants (a.k.a. PePe's or Lalos), but does not rank at the top of my list of the best. They serve standard food like Enchiladas, Nachos, etc., but what they are really known for is their Margaritas, which are some of the best in town. Featuring many flavors, you can enjoy a pitcher of your favorite taste while watching people go by through the window. Las Mananitas isn't exactly the best food place in town, but if you are looking for a nice place to hang out with your friends and have a good time, this is the place to go.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago. They have good food at a good price, some outdoor seating when the weather is good, and big, awesome margaritas. Its too easy to go overboard on the margaritas, so watch out! Located near Wrigley field. Parking is difficult-try Fremont and Addison, but watch for night baseball parking restrictions.
