We look forward to seeing this fountain brought back to life in the spring every year! The kids especially get a kick out of the synchronized "show." We often bring a bagged lunch and just sit and relax, watch the people, watch the water, whatever. On hot, windy days you get an extra treat by the mist blowing off the water - a nice cool down!

We always take the kids out to this fountain during the summer. Its such an enjoyable place to be at. The fountain is just gorgeous. Its big and at night it lights up and becomes very spectacular looking. During the summers, they have lots of great activities here, many which are geared towards kids too! But wether or not there is some event going on here, you will enjoy the nice park and the great views of the lake from this magnificent fountain.

Just imagine a much much smaller Old Faithful. The fountain itself is quite beautiful and its intricate design is alone worth the visit. Grab a bench and enjoy the free show.

This fountain turns on every hour on the hour when the warm season hits. They also play music that coincides with the colors that they flash onto the water. There are benches surrounding the fountain for bringing a lunch and hanging out watching the show. Make sure not to sit in the grass, because they now have police that make it difficult to do anything without being harassed.

The Buckingham fountain is a great place to take the entire family in the summer. The fountain is beautifully made and very well kept. Its fun to take the entire family to the park to enjoy some delicious snacks and take in the great view of not only the fountain but the lake as well. It is also a great place to have a picnic. I always go here on the 4th of July and enjoy the spectacular fireworks display they have here. Take public transportation if you can, parking can be hard to find here.

This beautiful fountain is just one more pleasure to be found in the downtown/lakefront area. From May to October each year, the fountain sprays its giant waterjet up in the air, so that it can be seen blocks away. It's a favorite meeting place during the Taste of Chicago when the crowds can be overwhelming at Millenium Park, and it certainly is a favorite of children. But perhaps the best time to experience the fountain is on a summer evening when the illumination of the fountain highlights its beauty, on a romantic horse and carriage ride through the city. Don't miss this free monument to beauty when you are visiting Chicago.
