The Darkroom is a cool club in Ukrainian Village on Chicago Avenue. Its name is a play on words in relation to photography, some of which is displayed on the walls. When the club cranks up the music and the dance floor gets jumping, it gets very difficult to see the photos in the dark room, so just go with the flow and enjoy the variety of world music played here. The crowd is very diverse, which is a good thing.

With its slick black-and-red interior and sophisticated lounge-y vibe, this Ukranian Village club could easily be pretentious -- but you won't find any attitude here. There are plenty of booths and tables along the walls, and the bar is located smack dab in the middle of the medium-sized-yet-spacious space. The dancefloor does get crowded when resident and guest DJs spin sets ranging from reggae to techno to retro tunes. Best part? Every type of person fits in, whether you sip cosmos or chug cheap brews -- darkroom is practically a haven for world peace. If you hate going to bars where people bump into you with nary an "excuse me", this is the place for you.
