So glad to see Rock Records are still going strong. 20 years ago on vacation from Europe (I live in London) I walked in and asked for a cassette of Mozart's piano quartets and the guy produced it instantly and with no comment on my un-rock tastes. Cheap too. I hope they're still pulling nice surprises.

The Staff there was so friendly & Knowledgeable & was able to name the song & artist of several songs from the 70's when i just hummed a few parts & or new only a couple lyrics. I was totally blown away. They special ordered 3 albums for me & knew whre I could get 2 songs I was looking for on compilation albums so i would not have to special order them & with the compilations I would get a lot more songs that i would enjoy instead of an album with one good song & the rest duds. I highly recommend Rock Records to anyone

They actually still have records! That was kind of cool. This place also has a pretty good selection of CDs and DVDs as well, and it's a fairly diverse sample of genres.

Being as I have a different kind of taste in music and Best Buy often does not have the selection I am looking for, at my lunch break I decided to walk to Rock Records to see if they had an Amos Lee and Gasoline Hearts album that I figured Best Buy would not carry. Well it turns out that all they have are popular music for outragious prices. To make things even worse, that day I went to Best Buy, and they had both of the albums I was looking for. How can they call themselves a "record store" when they don't even have a better selection then an electronics store with a record department. I will save myself a trip next time and just go straight to Best Buy. Pros: The atmosphere Cons: The selection and the Price

Rock Records does not only sell Rock cds but sells cds of many genres of music. Rock is just the name of this store that is in Chicago's Loop and has been around as long as I can remember. They often advertise in local free papers. Their prices are competive(not great) with other big stores. If you have been in this area you know the parking situation can be quite challenging. If you pay for a parking lot you may as well stay downtown for a couple hours and sightsee for a while or go dine somewhere.
