I did a fair amount of online research prior to our visit to Chicago and was so happy I decided to give Avec a try. I wanted to eat somewhere hip, but not over the top serious with the food (I'm not into foams and gelees). I also wanted somewhere that offered small plates so my husband and I could share a few. The food was really nice...especially the cheese our server selected to pair with our wine. We also got a duck dish that was so so...it had a cold salad on top of it that just didn't seem to mesh well. All in all, I would recommend Avec to anyone wanting to sample several small dishes and have fabulous wine pairings.
The atmosphere is somewhat raucous (read: noisy), so if you're hoping for a quiet, romantic evening try somewhere else. Avec is ideal for a group of friends...but get there early as tables can be hard to get in this small eatery.

I love Turkish food and I have been to other Turkish restaurants but it was more Mediterranean/American/Turkish food but A La Turka Turkish Kitchen was great authentic Turkish food and the service was great. I think this is a great place to go with friends and the portions are very large for sharing and the price was very decent. It is also a great date place as it is a cozy and very romantic setting,
Pros: everything was pretty great..the food, the price, the atmosphere
Cons: I like my food sizzling hot

Having lived in Chicago, and on both coasts, I've been to countless Middle Eastern restaurants. I go back to Maza every time I'm in Chicago - this is absolutely the best restaurant I've been to when evaluating an overall dining experience.
Food - Incredible. Authentic Lebanese food - the "maza" style gives you a little taste of everything; otherwise, every regular entree I've had is delicious. If you can handle raw meat ("steak tartare") go for the Kibbeh Nayeh - unreal. All lamb and chicken dishes are excellent. They have seafood & vegetarian items as well - something on the menu for everyone. For dessert, the baklava is authentic: flaky, somewhat buttery, and delicious. The mint tea (brewed with real mint, not in a bag) is a perfect way to top it off.
Price - Very reasonable. Entrees run from $12-$18 and portions are more than adequate. A complete dinner for two will average about $50-$60 ($80-$90 if you get the Lebanese wine, which I highly recommend).
Service - Top-notch. Joe is the owner of the restaurant and the only waiter (he has additional staff that help serve food & drink, clear dishes, etc.) He's incredibly nice (one reviewer said otherwise - has to be an anomaly - I promise he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet). Food is served promptly and courteously, and the whole staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a great dining experience.
Ambiance - Excellent. It's a somewhat small, semi-romantic place. I've taken dates there, but also had dinner with groups of 6 or 8 - it works well for both.
Again, considering EVERYTHING: food, service, price, ambiance, etc - this is the best restaurant I've been to. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I look forward to going back every time I'm in Chicago.
Pros: Excellent food, prices, service
Cons: ?

Last night i and my friend were in Cousin's incredible vitality restaurant.
It was my first time eating at a raw restaurant, and it was amazing. There are a lot of different foods, juices and desserts.
After we finished our foods, amplified upon about raw foods with the chef owner about raw foods. They only use organic, fresh vegetables, fruits, spices... they take the water of some vegetables with a machine to make them taste like it is fried. when they make juice, they mix useful and healthful fruits, vegetables or spices! I always eat bread with my meal but there isn't bread. They eat cracker or different bread. I learned a lot of information about foods. Now I wonder how are the vegan foods?, why they eat only raw foods. I want to go to the restaurant again.
The chef and The waitstaff are very knowledgeable and attentive. I fell in love with the restaurant: the service, the design, the atmosphere, the foods were so excellent! I loved the raw deserts especially the fake cheesecake. They don't use cheese:) it's amazing i think.
I bought a lot of pretty and useful things and books in a shop where in the restaurant.
I'm glad to learn that dishes at a raw restaurant can taste good! I think you don't miss the delicious and healthy foods :)
Pros: Very delicious foods and desserts. Especially Cheesecake.
Cons: There isn't bread.

I stumbled across this place 4 years ago with some friends and we decided to give it a try. And I'm so glad we did because since then it is my favorite restaurant!!! It has a great atmosphere. You can either sit at a regular table or you can take off your shoes and sit on pillows around a table! It is BYOB which helps cut down on cost when going out! But cost isn't really even an issue when dining there because everything is so moderately priced!! I love the mediterranean spinach which is like $11, and there are always leftovers to take home! Everything on the menu is fantastic!!!!!!! Just writing this review makes me want to go there right now! This is a great place to go with friends or even for a romantic date!

i have nothing but good things to say about Sigara. i had just recently thrown my girlfriend a birthday party at Sigara. We had 30+ people come, the host was extremely helpful through every step of the process, more then helpful with any questions and everything else. We searched a few other places but this was by far the best deal anywhere we got the $25 unlimited house well drinks and unlimited hookah all night. all the guests loved the place and are even planning to throw their upcoming parties at Sigara. I read the reviews and was skeptical but my friends told me otherwise and my girlfriend and I are so thankful they hinted this place to us. Also through out the many hookah lounges I've been to I've no come across such interesting flavors and water mixes yet, in one of our hookahs we had a red wine mixed into the water and a special tobacco mix that created such a unique (in a good way) taste that is truly something else. on top of great service, hookah, and atmosphere, you can order food. our party was crazy for the humus, and Sigara has a great open bar and coffee. again i have only the best things to say about Sigara and highly recommend it to anyone, especially big groups. the only down side is parking but you can find some just two blocks down either direction, but it is tough :( but despite that, they will most definitely see us and our friends in the future!!
Pros: Hookah, atmosphere, great for big groups, great package deals, service!
Cons: parking
