My husband and I were just at Sam's Wines & Spirits this evening and was very disappointed. Their Vodka section had so many empty shelves. Not to mention a sales associate told me they didn't sell a certain Vodka anymore, which I later found in the store. His response was "Oh, I guess we do." We made our way to the deli section 15 minutes prior to closing to get sliced prosciutto di parma only to be told that they had shut down the slicers. How about shutting down the slicers when you close. Would it be too much for a worker to stay 10 to 15 minutes after closing to shut down and clean up? Great customer service. I don't think I'll be back. I'll try Binny's instead.

I love asking the staff questions here--they always have the answer, ranging from quick and precise, to lengthy and detailed, but still precise! I often look for specific wines I've tasted or read about and, if not available, they help me find the closest approximation. I also like the Belgian beer selection, which keeps getting better, everytime I go in.

Sam's not only has the best alcohol selection in the city, it also has phenomenal prices and a very friendly, expert staff. If you liked an obscure wine at a restaurant, you'll almost certainly be able to find it at Sam's for surprisingly little. Additionally, they do stock the very rare expensive wines, though.

If there is some sort of alcohol you want, Sam's will have it. Sam's carries a huge variety of hard liquors, and a massive selction of beers (some are microbews that you can't find anywhere else). Kegs are available in many varieties. I was able to find about 10 different varieties of German beer for my Oktoberfest party, and was able to find all sorts of great liquors. Plenty of parking in the attached lot, and they will bring your keg to the car for you.

Prepare to be overwhelmed when you go to Sam's. They have aisles upon aisles of wine, and a variety of just about any other liquor you may need. Staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Will take unopened returns, so it is a great place to go when having a party. I usually find beer cheaper other places though.

Sam's is The place to buy wine in Chicago. All of the wine and liquor is discounted. You can buy $200 cognac for $160. There is no reason to go to any other wine store and liquor store. The store is a huge warehouse. The staff is eager to answer your questions and help you pick the perfect selection. They also have occasional tastings and classes. It can get very crowded, though, on the weekends and it can be a hassle to find a parking space, which is why I go on weekday nights.

Sam's Wine is a Chicago institution. What began as a humble liqour store has somehow evolved into one of the most well-stocked wine stores in the country. Sam's carries innumerable varieties of wine from all regions, with price ranges to suit any budget. They also carry a good selection of beers and spirits, although really their wine selection is the main point. Their staff are quite knowledgable and a great source of advice. Volume discounts and a decent return policy, so they are good for getting wine for events, especially if you don't want to feed your guests the usual mass produced rubbishy wine most events stock.

I've been to many a wine shop and liquor store and none come even close to Sam's. Imagine a warehouse the size of a football field with row upon row of wines and liquors from around the country and the world. The selection is unparalleled and the service is great. They even offer self-serve tastings of many of the wines and spirits. When my parents were visiting Chicago we took them to Sam's and ended up sampling some tasty single malts as well as a couple of delightful Wilamette Valley pinot noirs. Sam's Rocks!!!
