Ever since I moved to Chicago, I knew about Sam's. There's a good reason for this. They have pretty much everything you could ever hope to find in one liquor store and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Although Sam's specialty is wine, they also have an impressive stock of liquor and beer. (Plus the younger beer guy, Austin, definitely has a cute butt.) In addition, you can schedule private tastings and tours and later impress your friends with your newfound knowledge.
A word to the wise: do *not* order anything through their internet department. They are very backed up and disorganized. Either go to the store (recommended) or phone in to the call center.

I love asking the staff questions here--they always have the answer, ranging from quick and precise, to lengthy and detailed, but still precise! I often look for specific wines I've tasted or read about and, if not available, they help me find the closest approximation.
I also like the Belgian beer selection, which keeps getting better, everytime I go in.

I love Grizzly's Lodge! TV's all over the place! A combination of North Woods and Sports Memorabilia. A friendly place in the neighborhood where you can have a great meal, a cold beer and watch any sporting event imaginable. Don't pass up a chance to visit Grizzly's!

The Lincoln Square area is one of my favorites in the city. Each time I come around here I try to make this old world style deli one of my stops. They are family owned and have been here for many years. They have a great variety of imported cheeses and meats. They have a small market; check out their preserves and jams which are first rate. They also prepare deli trays if you're having a party.

Well...I know this place very well, we usually book our company outings at Cactus twice a month.
Wow...The margaritas are extremly strong and delicious while the appetizers are cheap and tasty, be sure to try the Death Valley Chicken Tenders. Recently, we have been stopping by after work on Tuesday for their $3.00 Miller Lite Pitchers. What a DEAL!!!
Pros: Huge Bar, Great Margarita's, and friendly staff

Binny's Beverage Depot is a great place to go if you want a great selection of liquor that is very affordable. This place has a huge selection and there will surely be something you will like (and afford too!).
Plus, you can get a good assortment of cheeses here too. Yea, they are not as good as Fox and Obel Market, but with the liquor, they are fine.
Another cool thing is that they have lots of samples so it is always fun to go in here!

The best selection in wines. The owner wades through the world of wines to make it a managable 300+ affair. It is like having your own private wine cellar with fantastic wine values. The shop has a great urban loft feel. A very cool place to hangout and sip wine. The tasting machines are awesome. You have to stop in and try them. The classes are well done and you can walk away with some great wine knowledge.
Pros: Great Wines, Tasting Machines, Fantastic Classes
Cons: Limited Parking

When I used to live about a half-block away, Gold Crown Liquors was such a great place to go for entertaining, myself or others. They carry all sorts of imported beers and micro-brews, as well as a really nice wine selection for the size of the place. But if I had to focus on just one thing about this liquor store that I miss, it's the shots the guys behind the counter would make me do. maybe because I was a regular, maybe because I was a cute girl, but when they got a new liquor in, I would get a complimentary shot. They also carry an array of mixers, and a tiny amount of food products, but usually only stuff you'd put in a drink. Oh, yeah, and ice cream. The guys that own the place are flirts, and plain friendly otherwise, and if you have questions, they have answers. They also offer keg services.

By far, the most relatable store I've been to in Chicago. Afler living here for several years, this is a PRIZE in the neighborhood. The absolute BEST wine and beer selection I've seen in a long time. Staff is very in tune with "todays" knowledge of selection from the most widely consumed to the most extravagent tastes. Most impressive is the fact that the store caters to the everyday consumer. Not trying to overwhelm the customer with information to try and "make the sale", but, offering a great selection at a resonable price. You'll find the atmosphere very welcoming and an easy store to shop.
