Wow! I love this place! It's my favorite in Chicago. The sushi is absolutely delicious and the prices are good considering the larger than average portion sizes. I go at least once a week if I can. This place puts Bob San and Sushi Samba Rio to shame. The quality is as good as Mirai but you get more food so it's a much better value. My favorite thing on the menu which you must try is the "Summer Roll" which has tuna, avocado, peppers, and cilantro with a spicy oil dripped on it. It's so good. I have brought lots of friends and family to this little restaurant on the edge of Wicker Park and they have all been very impressed. Can't wait to go back!
Pros: delicious sushi, cooked food good too, parking easy, good service

The ambiance is intimate and inviting, the service is impeccable, and the sushi is fresh and well presented. The specialty sushis are unique and exquisite, and are pricey but a must. They are so good my wife who does not like sushi loves them. I travel for a living and have tried sushi from Hawaii to New York and this is by far the best sushi restaurant I have had the pleasure of being to.
Pros: World class sushi and service, intimate ambiance
Cons: Reservations a must

I have made it my goal to find the best sushi in Chicago, so far Meiji tops my list. The decor is simple but comforting. The service is outstanding. After years of working in the food industry, I was very impressed by the entire staff. The server?s were very knowledgeable about the menu ?and not reading from a piece of paper- they could accurately recommend an entre based on what we said we liked didn?t like ect. Now for the food it was outstanding! The shogun is my favorite I can highly recommend the hye roller, the white dragon and the haru as well as the individual pieces of tuna and salmon. I brought my friends there and after we ate, two of them ordered food to go because they liked it so much. The drink menu is not something I care all that much about unless I am going for wine, but their cocktails are also delicious. Now it is not a cheap place but the money is well worth it for the food and service that you get at Meiji. Go and Enjoy!!!
Pros: good food and service
Cons: a bit pricey

We visited Agami for the third time on the Thursday after Christmas, and remain impressed with this great place. The editorial review is old - they do have their liquor license and have a good selection of sakes. The waitress also let us sample some of the names we weren't familiar with before we picked a bottle.
Their fish is excellent, especially compared to other nearby spots. They serve very fresh, very good-size cuts of nigiri, with very little rice and wasabi. It's a much more genuine experience than other places, which have only rolls and nasty fish. The ambience is great, especially the big red booths up front, though next time we'll probably sit next to the sushi bar to talk to the chefs.
We finished our meal with some tamago and a little bottle of sparkling sake. It was fantastic and we will definately be back soon!
Pros: Exceptional fish, focus on 'real' sushi, great sake, fun ambience

I consider myself some what of a sushi connoisseur and Shine definitely hits the nail on the head for fresh, consistently delicious authentic sushi. Sure...their wait staff isn't Japanese but their sushi chefs are- duh.
Shine is the perfect date spot, girls night out, or place for dinner on a fri or sat night that you don't feel like going to the club/bar because there is always a lively, classy, chic, non pretentious atmosphere there.
The prices are the same as ANY sushi restaurant in Chicago the only difference is that you get ambiance, class, comfort, style and excellent cuisine.
Thanks Shine- I love your outdoor patio, candle lit dinners, delivery, etc.
Pros: Ambience, sushi, our waitor was cute & funny. Fun for 20 & 30 somethings

This is the perfect place to go if you want to have an authentic sushi experience... The food is amazing and the help is very kind. The atmosphere is very authentic, not like your average Chicago sushi restaurant. The waiters/waitresses speak limited english, but the experience is worth the food. It is some of the best sushi I have tasted.
