I've been to Starfish 3 times. All three visits were great. I've discovered that it's normal for them to be "out" of something I wanted, like sake. But the meal always makes up for it. Last visit I ordered the tekka-don. I was living dangeriously, as I normally look for tekka maki. The menu said this was 10 pcs of tuna on rice, but it came 1/2 and 1/2 tuna & red snapper. I'm glad I was feeling adventuous. The plate was gorgeous, tuna and red snapper with caviar added. Yum. This was the first time I've tried the red snapper. My tuna intake has been seriously curtailed after this experience. I ordered an ice cream dessert. I have no idea what it was called, but it was cappucino ice cream inside some sort of squishy dough. I know, it sounds kind of gross and the texture was a little weird, but it was so delicious!
Pros: The BEST sushi.
Cons: Service can be slow, but they are very polite.

I'm an Oysy regular and would recommend it to everyone! This place has something for everyone, and it's all extremely affordable!
I went last night with my sister and shared a 3 flavor sushi plate as usual! It has this fantastic combination of flavors. My favorite it the chopped yellow tale and plum dressing!
We decided to share the rest of our meal too. We split a dragon roll, grilled octopus with this interesting miso sauce and tuna spring rolls wrapped in this insane soy paper!
neither one of us was willing to budge when it came to cocktails! We both got the restaurants new tyku cucumber cooler with sake. I's refreshing and perfect with sashimi!
Pros: yummy sashimi and share plates
Cons: nothing!!!

Just left Koko and had a great time. My date left a high score! Very impressed. Will we come back? Without a doubt. Already making plans for a weekend with friends. If you go there, try the Miami rolls and the white fin tuna. The sangria pitcher was refreshing and moved us to the patio. My lunch date ended up with me calling in to work and enjoying the afternoon with great company.

We like to visit this restaurant for the rolls and the Bento boxes. Order the Dragon roll, it's the best. We've never had to wait for a table, even on a Friday night. The service has been exceptional and quick. The Bento boxes include a lot of food, very satisfying. No complaints here.

I've been with some friends here a couple times and i love their dishes. Order the Casino, it's not on the menu but you won't regret it. Even their new Fire Fried Sushi, is great. The only thing I didn't like was the Vegetable Tempura, the sauce wasn't that good, but everything else was great. As for martini's, try the GQ, it's yummy.
Pros: Casino dish
Cons: Parking, park at McDonald's for $10 if you can't find street parking

So yeah this place might advertise to have great sushi, and I love their sushi but really their teriyaki dishes is where its at. They have the best teriyaki in the city, I love their chicken teriyaki (ask for white meat) and the seafood teriyaki. However, lately they've been skimping on the portions and it is kind of pricey. The best deal is to get a bento box combo and you get a teriyaki of your choice, salad, miso soup, cali roll, one tuna, one salmon and one shrimp roll. I suggest getting pick up or delivery since the dine in is pretty limited and the tables are really crammed into a small space. The service is not the best but the food is great!

Seriously, anyone who wrote a bad review just doesn't get the experience with Mike. Please, sit at the bar, watch him work and try to understand where all the flavors are coming from. Tell him spicy or not, he will listen to you! Everyone seems like they are in such a hurry! Sit back and enjoy life and your food for once! So what if it takes 2 hours to eat! Your with friends! Bring a great bottle of wine or two!!! He can make a sushi lover out of anyone!
Pros: Creative and wonderful Sushi !!!
Cons: I don't have any, he is worth every minute of my experience!

We felt welcome the moment we walked in. Our server Kyle helped us navigate the menu and Adam the owner was helpful and suggested the specials which didn't disappoint. I'm not much of a sushi fan and planned to get teriyaki, but thanks to Kyle, I might be a convert. Try the Armitage with Adam's "secret sauces."
Pros: Felt like family
Cons: Quite small

Went to Kyoto Sushi Restaurant for the first time last weekend with my boyfriend. Heard rave reviews about the place through a friend. I ordered their Dragon Maki and Kyoto Maki, and both were beyond excellent! Freshest sushi I've ever had, and I could not believe how no one has figured out this hidden gem of a restaurant yet. I am officially going back there just for the Dragon Maki alone which melts in your mouth with a sweet aftertaste. Just amazing. My boyfriend who isn't a huge sushi fan was thoroughly impressed with how well the sushi was presented, and the play of flavors in their selection. The restaurant itself was small but it makes the experience all the more cozy and intimate. Lighting is low and the restaurant looked red from the decor and paint. Background music plays Japanese slow rock just faint enough to be noticed. It wasn't busy for a Saturday night but more people came close to 9 pm. The menu is still in the works, I think, and no liquor yet. Hot tea was rather good anyway. I paid compliments to the chefs, and they gave me my Mochi ice cream dessert on the house. Excellent restaurant. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back for more.
Pros: excellent sushi, free parking in rear, small crowd
Cons: no liquor license yet
