I walk by this place all the time. Sometimes its empty and sometimes they have a line out the door. Kinda strange, but I decided to try it anyway with my friends. I love thew clean lines of the interior and the openness of the space. Most sushi places are tiny and feel crampt. We tried their area 51 martinis and some tropical ones as well to start. Great drink menu by the way. Next we tried the nanami maguro appetizer which was a bit spicy but melted in our mouths. They introduced some new rolls lately and a sushi pizza. I hioghly recommend the godzilla and buddha rolls. Overall the service and food were excellent. I definitely recommend trying this place!!!

The food here is awesome! I had spicy tuna rolls, and they were the best I've ever had. My sister had california rolls, and those were good too. My brother had cooked crab rolls, and I liked them. It was the first time I've everl liked crab.
I was very impressed with our waitress. She was quick and smart. I let her know I didn't want sugar in my mojito, so she went through the trouble of mixing Sweet N Low into it for me. Most places let me do that myself.
The atmosphere is great...very trendy. It feels like a club and makes you want to stay there all night. The bathrooms are even nice and trendy.
It was a tiny bit expensive, but it is Chicago...so what do you expect? It is not overly expensive.
Pros: Great Food
Cons: Price

This upscale restaurant has great food, drinks, and eye candy. The canopies on the river in the summer can't be beat, and the crowd is always dressed to kill. If you want to get dressed up and have a chic night out, this is the place to start!

If you want somewhere to take your girl; this is the spot.
Make a reservation and ask for a vault. I repeat: reserve a
vault. The vaults are dimly lit, semi-private, cozy little squares in
the back of the restaurant. The restaurant offers pan-asian food
that is moderately priced. You and you date can eat well for under $80.
Valet parking is $10. So bring $90 to be safe. The food was pretty good.
I was impressed with the Tao of chocolate, which is flourless chocolate
cake and cherry-vanilla ice cream.
Pros: Ambience
Cons: no cons, Opera is all good

My friend and I were here a few weeks back and I've neglected to write a review until now.
We had a fabulous time. The service was top notch, the wine list had good selections and the sushi was fantastic. Although the menu is more limited than you would find at some other places, each of the choices are delicious. In fact, my friend and I tried every one of the Chef Selections and loved them....so much so that we actually re-ordered a couple of them.
As noted by another reviewer, they suggest not using soy sauce and they're exactly right. The flavors are perfect just as they are.
Highly recommended!
Pros: Sushi was fantastic and different than the norm
Cons: none

Where can I start... This place is clean, has attentive and helpful servers and the food is awsome. I have never had a bad meal at the Sai Cafe. The sushi is always fresh and presented beautifully and this is the reason i come back at least once a week. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try and you will not be disappointed.

Kamehachi has something for both the uber-trendy and the old-fashioned. Their menu ranges from inventive sushi, if you're feeling all fancy, to traditional dishes like tonkastu, soba, and udon, if you're in a homier mood.
For the location and the quality, Kamehachi's prices are actually quite reasonable. It's not McDonald's, folks--it's a nice Japanese restaurant in a major American city. While it's easy to drop quite a bit of bank here, the Maki-Mono menu has lots of rolls, many of them from $3.95 to $6.95 for six rolls. So, you can actually get quite a bit of sushi for very little money if you stick with maki.
I've had great servers here. I recommend going for a table in the upstairs lounge, which is open late, even on weeknights.
NOTE: It's standard restaurant practice, from the Golden Nugget to Kamehachi, to charge an automatic gratuity of 15-18% for parties of a certain size, and it's always printed on the bill. This is so servers don't work their asses off on a large party only to get stiffed at the end of the night. I only mention this because there seems to be some confusion in an earlier review.
Pros: Oishii desu yo! (Delicious!)
Cons: Parking can be tricky.

I've been to Starfish 3 times. All three visits were great. I've discovered that it's normal for them to be "out" of something I wanted, like sake. But the meal always makes up for it. Last visit I ordered the tekka-don. I was living dangeriously, as I normally look for tekka maki. The menu said this was 10 pcs of tuna on rice, but it came 1/2 and 1/2 tuna & red snapper. I'm glad I was feeling adventuous. The plate was gorgeous, tuna and red snapper with caviar added. Yum. This was the first time I've tried the red snapper. My tuna intake has been seriously curtailed after this experience. I ordered an ice cream dessert. I have no idea what it was called, but it was cappucino ice cream inside some sort of squishy dough. I know, it sounds kind of gross and the texture was a little weird, but it was so delicious!
Pros: The BEST sushi.
Cons: Service can be slow, but they are very polite.
