I've been dining here for 9 years and this place has Chicago's Most Sensational Grilled Salmon Salad with mouth-watering mango salad dressing and carmalized pecans. Fabulous Calamari Fritti with zesty Roma salsa. Spectacular Spinach Bread!
As far as entrees, my favorite is the Fresh Grilled Salmon with a spicy cherry tomato & caper sauce served with spinach & mashed potatoes (home-made). The pastas my friends & I like best are the tangy chicken fettucine, spinach ravioli, spicy shrimp linguini and chicken picatta. My favorite sandwiches are the Chunky Tuna and Asiago Chicken. The Zig Zag Burger is a scrumptious indulgence complimented with real hand-made french fries. The divinely decadent chocolate flourless cake delights with a rich, creamy coco flavor. Best BYOB place 'cause they don't charge a corkage fee! Most fantastic food in Chicagoland because it's made fresh to order. I highly recommended Zig Zag to anyone who wants distinctively fresh, delicious and nutritious food delivered on-time!
Pros: Fantastic, fresh food and no pre-processed or microwaved dishes!
Cons: Parking in Lincoln Park challenge; should be called Lincoln No Parking

Zia's is the best of the Edison Park restaurants. The atmosphere is warm and charming, while the food offers a tremendous value. Start with any of the daily appetizer specials (risotto or grilled octopus), or one of the reataurant's delicate salads. Take advantage of the marvelous pastas (my favorites are the rigatoni bolognese or the penne abruzzi), or dine on any of the fresh fish selections. The grilled beef tenderloin is excellent as well. The wine list is ample and offers some nice selections by the glass.
Pros: Great food, Excellent value, Free valet
Cons: Desserts need work

It was our first visit to Chicago, and Volare was highly recommended to us. Our waiter was very attentive and polite, and the atmosphere was inviting. The menu offered a variety of dishes which anyone would have difficulty choosing from, so I asked the waiter to surprise me with a dinner of his choice. I was brought Chicken Cacciatore and it was magnificent! The flavor and texture was everything that made every bite to be savored. The chicken was tender and covered in a perfectly cooked sauce made of fresh red peppers, mushrooms, onions, green olives... and the pasta was coated in a thin yet tasty tomato/garlic sauce which I have never tasted the likes of before. Later we walked by the Volare during rush dinner hour and it was packed. MY SUGGESTION would be to avoid the rush dinner hour so you could savore the experience of this small yet lovely place and all it has to offer. It is packed during dinner hour for a reason! Once home I tried to google recipes to duplicate this dish, but was unsuccessful in finding anything that closely matched the ingredients. Would I eat at Volare again during my next visit to Chicago? In a heartbeat!
Pros: Great Food
Cons: Dinner Hour Rush

Will definitely be back!

To the reviewer who had the soggy pizza: You must just have had bad luck. I've been going to Vito & Nick's for years, and I have never experienced a soggy pizza or anything other than a superior product.
Vito & Nick's is the quintessential Chicago-style cracker crust pizza. Crispy crust, nice balance of toppings, clean-tasting sauce that is not overly sweet (like Palermo's "sugar sauce.") I generally order mine well done to get a little extra char on it. Other pizza joints worth visiting for their cracker crust: Aurelio's in Homewood, Marie's, Pat's, and perhaps Candlelite. But, for me, Vito & Nick's is in a class by itself.

One of the best "sports bars" in Chicago because of its upscale vibe and beautiful enclosed sunroom. As a 40 something.....i appreciated the non-brawl like atmosphere, it was fun, upbeat but not annoyingly rowdy. There are no bad seats, all are clear views to the high def screens --which are everywhere. We ordered two white wines, one German the other California and they were PHENOMENAL. The service was quite frankly, better than most elegant, high-brow restaurants. Food was a big surprise - we started with a hummus plate that came with piping hot pita bread, warm flavorful hummus and crisp veggies (it was huge), boyfriend had steak fettuccine and i had a crisp, savory pizza for one (6 pieces which were more than enough) that had garlic, basil, peperoni and Gorgonzola-ALL was to DIE for. Best thing, it was Monday and it was half price for food and wine--this great meal was only $31! There is nothing like this anywhere in the city. 4 ++ stars.
Michele
Pros: There are no negatives, we loved all of it
