The Palmer House was a great choice for our vacation stay. The location was great. I have stayed at 3 other hotels and this was by far the best location. The staff was amazingly friendly. I can understand why people say the halls are hard to navigate, but there are signs all over leading to the room numbers and then back to the elevators. The lobby of this hotel is most beautiful. The only complaint I have is the elevator situation. There are nine elevators with three going LL-12, three going 13-17, and three going 18-23. The upper floor elevators (the ones I used) also went to LL-8. On both the weekday mornings I was trying to get downstairs, I waited about 7-10 minutes each time for the elevator to take us down. I had to plan that time into my budget in getting to the EL on time for the airport. I was also not to thrilled with the $7 per hour wireless fee (only available in the lobby or the $15 in room internet fee. After being told of the $7 per hour charge I didn't bother asking if the $15 was per day or hour. The room was spacious though and had 2 bathrooms with I loved. I have to say again, I was really impressed with how friendly all the staff was during my stay. Other than the elevators and internet fee, I loved the Palmer.
Pros: Beauty, Location, History
Cons: Elevators and Internet Fees

If I had enough money I'd LIVE here. They are super luxiourous, great service, great decore. I stayed here one night and felt like a superstar. The price is a bit pricey, but so worth it if you want to indulge yourself. A great romantic get away. The doormen are awesome too.

When I did a lot of business travel I stayed in a lot of Ritz Carlton hotels. However, on one occasion I had the opportunity to stay at the Chicago Four Seasons. This hotel is usually rated as one of the best hotels in the country. I have to agree. The service in this hotel is unbelievable. Anything you need will be taken care of. In addition, the food in the hotel is fantastic. We had a meeting at the hotel and it was a buffet style dinner. It had to be one of the best buffet dinners I ever had. The bed was extremely comfortable. But make no mistake, you will pay for this luxury through the nose.

After having a bit too much on New Year's, my friend and I decided we couldn't even try to get home, and we stumbled into the Hilton Garden. The check-in staff were courteous and understanding (and even offered help up to our room, but we weren't THAT badly-off) and gave us a late check out for the next day. Three cheers for service! It is a comfortable, not too stuffy hotel near everything, but without the ridiculous price tag of its brother Hilton on Michigan. Great for the price.
Pros: COFFEE, quiet
Cons: ugly view

What else do you need. I finally found a place that is new but doesn't cost $400 a night.
Pros: Location, Inexpensive, Breakfast Incl.
