I wanted to end my sister's bachelorette party at a great hotel nearby some bars. The rave reviews gave me the impression that the rooms were huge and the hotel was nice. I have to say I was totally embarassed to find none of this was true. There was barely any room around the beds. We left without spending the night and had to pay anyway. Whoever gave rave reviews on this hotel must be either payed or thinking of some place else. If you want to go there to impress anyone...you're picking the wrong place. I regret blindly believing the reviews and hope that this review offers someone the opportunity to change reservations. I am not giving this the worst rating because it wasn't the WORST hotel I've ever been in.

One of my friends came in from England and she stayed at this motel. Its really an okay place. She got a discounted rate, but the service sucked here. The room wasn't that great and the bed wasn't really that comfortable. But she did get free cable and a free continental breakfast. I guess at that price, you really can't ask for much more.

I arrived at midnight. I was faced by a security entrance and a desk guard who seemed distracted. After a few minutes, I managed to get passed him and took the elevators up to the lobby. The night desk guy was nice and helpful - he processed me quickly. But - it was midnight, the place felt shabby, they were cleaning (vacuum cleaners everywhere.) I went up to my room. It was fine - clean, comfortable, and relatively quiet. But - there was nothing at all to distinguish it. I went to sleep - woke up at the appointed time - and went to my meeting.

have stayed at many choice hotels in the past and am a choicehotels member. I would have to say that I was disappointed in this one. The location is great! We only stayed one night as we were in Chicago to see a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show. We got in about 10:30 at night and checked out at 6:40 the next morning so we spent very little time in the room. The room was one queen size bed and the room was not much wider than the bed. I have only seen rooms this tiny in Europe. I tried to book directly through the hotel but they would not take a reservation for only one night. I believe there was a convention or something. Therefore I booked through another website (ratestogo). It was the best deal I could find for the Magnicifient Mile in Chicago for that date. I believe the total came to $108 plus taxes. We parked in the recommended garage at $21 a night. However, you can only leave your car there until 12:00 noon the day of checkout. The guy working behind the counter let us leave our vehicle in the garage until 3 so we could shop a little after the taping and gave a different transponder to get the car out. You have to go outside the hotel to get to the garage. There was a tv in the room with cable but the picture was not even watchable. Since we were only there a few hours, it was not a big issue but was disappointing nonetheless. There is a continental breakfast served each morning starting at 7 am. Since we had to be at Harpo Studios by 7 a.m. (about $10 cab ride including tip from this hotel), I wasn't sure they would have anything set up. The gentleman in charge of breakfast had starting setting it up and my friend, myself and a business traveller were able to grab something to eat (muffins) but the beverages were not yet set out. I had previously stayed at the Raphael in March as it was cheaper but their parking (valet) is more expensive at $38. If I had it to do over again, I would stay at the Raphael, because the valet parking was worth it. The person I travelled with uses a motorized scooter and the valet parking would have been more convenient and the overall price would have been a couple of dollars cheaper. The Comfort Inn is in much better condition. than the Raphael as it has been recently remodeled and is very clean and also has a pool which I did not see. However, we had a much larger room and two double beds at the Raphael which made it more

I was here for a seminar today. They are currently undergoing renovation. The temporary entrace was virtually unmarked, while their signage on their closed main entrace was small and inconspicuous.
During the seminar, there was lots of construction noise, to the point where it detracted from the seminar.
There are plenty of better locations for meeting rooms in the Chicago area.

More
When I first arrived at Bronzeville's 1st Bed & Breakfast, I knocked and knocked, but no one answered the door. I actually had to call the place from my cell phone to get someone to come open the place up for me. (I was extremely uncomfortable waiting outside to get in because it is adjacent to an abandoned building next to a vacant lot and on the opposide side is a liquor store with men hanging out in front. Across the street is an abandoned lot with more men idly passing the time. There was broken glass and empty bottles strewn about). When the employee showed me my room it was extremely small and frankly, dirty. I saw numerous spider webs in the corners and the bed wasn't even made. I waited until someone came up to the room to make the bed (and I noticed they did not even change the sheets; they just remade the bed). When I was checking out I told the manager how unhappy I was with the room, she replied that a number of famous people have stayed there and she offered me a discounted certificate to return. Even with a discount, I would not return to this establishment.
