The Fairmont is a very nice hotel in a great location right next to Millennium Park and the Art Institute. We had a tastefully decorated, quiet room and very comfortable bed. The entire staff was very pleasant. Gorgeous view of the park and museum campus from the room.
Pros: Great value, nice view
Cons: valet parking expensive

This place could use some more renovating, but it is in the perfect location for the thousands of college students overwhelming this area. The food is good, and the people who work here are all friendly. I will recommend this place over the small shops surrounding it. It has a little more character and the prices are better than bad.

My family was staying at the Hyatt as a guest of the Make-a-Wish Foundation after our son beat cancer. We decided to dine at Stetson's on the recommendation of the Hotel General Manager, Patrick Donelly. The service was prompt, but not overbearing. The food was exceptional. My wife and I split/shared our appetizers and entree's. Everything was prepared to perfection! Our waiter made outstanding recommendations regarding appetizers and side dishes, and was spot on with his recommendation of entree's. I had Steamed Alaskan King Crab Legs and Lobster Bisque to start with, and my wife had French Onion Soup and a Caesar Salad Served In A Baked Parmesan Bowl. I tasted her soup and salad, and they were as perfect as my crab legs and lobster bisque! The waiter recommended side dishes to our table that he considered "must tries," and he was correct: Sauteed Spinach, Steamed Broccoli, the Chef's specially prepared Cream Corn, and Sauteed Mushrooms. Again, I tasted all four side dishes and they were delectable! The entree's--WOW! Absolutely perfectly prepared medium rare NY Strip for my son. A mouthwatering, tender and juicy Kansas City Steak - 16oz for my wife. (I actually ate half of it because it was delicious!) My daughter had the Roasted Chicken and it was moist and quite tasty. I had the Twin Lobster Tails (I gave one to my wife since I ate half her steak). The lobster was not overcooked as frequently occurs, and was outstanding! I cannot believe that this restraint has received negative reviews, particularly the review the characterized it as "definitely not a top steak house." NONESENSE! This place is a must for fine dining in Chicago. We have eaten in all the best steak houses in Chicago--Ruth's, Gibson's, Morton's, Kinzie St., Gene & Georgettee's, and others. I had never heard of, or been to Stetson's, but have sent all of my friends there since we dined there. I, no we HIGHLY RECCOMMEND STETSON'S for your dining pleasure! Mr. Donelly, thank you: it was great!
Pros: The OUTSTANDING food and service.
Cons: The Bar was full and a bit loud.

Stayed here for Valentine's day. You can describe this place as world class without be hyperbolic. I think foreign leaders stay here some times. Obviously, I got one of the cheapest rooms available, but not before securing a gorgeous view of water tower and the lake. Besides the numerous amenities, the real beauty of the place was the sliding door next to the hot tub that allowed you to watch TV while soaking in a hot bath. The prices are surely prohibitive, but if you're looking for real luxury and some romance, look no further

The InterContinental is fortunate to be situated at the end of the Magnificent Mile. The building is chock-full of interesting architectural details, so go crazy with your camera inside and outside the hotel. The rooms are nice too, though some people may wonder about the charming but old-fashioned water faucets on the bathroom sinks. The indoor swimming pool and piano bar are excellent amenities in the hotel.

My family just returned from Chicago and I was perfectly pleased with this hotel. I can only think the bad reviews are, by now, outdated or that the writers missed the charm of this historic and quite enchanting place. The staff could not have been warmer or friendlier beginning with the doorman/valet. Yes, there is still a picket line, but we chatted with a few of those people as well. The desk clerk and bellmen were extremely helpful. We were even treated to a mini "ghost-tour" by the security people. The Gold Room is absolutely fabulous! Ask them to take you there! We then walked the haunted (?!?!) 12th floor and it is very CREEPY!
Everyone we spoke to was so proud of the rich heritage and offered wonderful stories about movies filmed there and the famous guests.
The rate was only $115/night for a large room with two king beds and a view of Lake Michigan to die for, overlooking the Buckingham fountain and Grant park! What a treat each morning!
We did have problems getting hot water and had to run the shower for about ten minutes to get it comfortable enough. The bathroom was rather small, but the room size made up for it. (Ask for rooms ending in "74"---those are the biggest. That was a hint from the staff.)
Conveniently located minutes away from all lakefront activities and walking distance to the trolleys, "L's" and the Sears Tower. Right in the middle of it all! Let the valet park your car and enjoy the city!
Pros: Historic charm, Close to Family Activities
Cons: Small bathroom, Slow hot water

Linda Fields salon has now moved to a better location with David Your Stylist as Director and Hairstylist and color expert. This new location is like the Ritz and I suggest if your looking for a great salon & spa this is the place to go. New and beautiful just the way you will feel when you leave too.
Pros: ALL NEW LOCATION
Cons: have to ask the front desk where the salon is
