I have enjoyed this chef's food for over 20 years, going back to La Fountaine, and I'll follow him anywhere he chooses to go or open. All the best elements of bistro dining are present here, including tight seating and a lively, louder enviornment. The food is excellent, fresh and genuine. Come the dark of winter, there is little better than his hearty cassoulet with a good glass of Rhone. This is the standard that other bistros are judged by....
Pros: Le Sardine if this one is booked & good wine values.
Cons: not at the end of my block.....

This is a hide-away with extraordinary food well prepared in classic french style and an extensive list of affordable wines. We live in the neighborhood and love this restaurant. All I can say about the previous review is that homophobes should maybe stick to the suburbs where they belong. As for the sighting of the "usual household pest" have you ever heard of the term "projection"? Peace.
Pros: Unique location
Cons: May soon be discovered by out-of-towners

I do a lot of business traveling, and always am "up" for new restaurants, preferably French, in the cities I go to. Kevin was highly recommended by a business colleague and I have to say it totally exceeded my high expectations. Exceptional food with unexpected flavor combinations. A total treat from start to finish, and I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Pros: Superb food

The meal was outstanding in every regard right down to the authentic French hard crust bread. The wine list was excellent in both quality of wines offered and value. The atmosphere was extremely nice and romantic, The only negative is the service staff. The bartender was not customer conscious, i.e. it took a while to get his attention and the waitress was very inattentive and slow. But overall we would highly recommend Brasserie Jo and deffinitely will be back.

I've been going here for 2 years, and other than an 8 month stretch with a marginal chef (all fixed now), it's a weekly event.
Generous martini's, attentive staff that remembers your name, your drink, good food... The fish and chips are a must if they're on special.
It's a great haunt on Monday night when most other places are closed, and the kitchen is open late most nights. Attracts a great crowd. Weekend nights can get crowded or noisy.
Overall, it's a friendly, comfortable place, and while not cheap, it's a good value. Your martini may cost $11, but it come in a glass big enough to make any drag queen's hands look small! Food portions are moderate, but extremely well flavored.
Go twice and you'll be treated like family..
Great for romantic dinners, or eating at the bar.
Pros: atmostphere, food, drinks, service
Cons: noisy and crowded on weekend nights
