There are a lot of choices of eateries at Navy Pier, that huge Chicago tourist sensation. For my money, Joe's Be Bop Cafe is among the best. The food is down-home Southern fare: ribs, pork chops, pulled pork, fried chicken, grilled seafood. And it's all pretty tasty, especially the ribs and chops. The best reason to go the Joe's, however, is for the music. Joe's offers live jazz on the weekends, and if you time it right, it's a good place to hang out with some drinks and catch the twice weekly fireworks offered by Navy Pier in the summer. You will probably have to wait, as with most restaurants at Navy Pier; however, unlike some places, this will be worth the wait.

While of course this place can get crowded at night, as with everywhere, it's also a nice place to get lunch or an early dinner on a Sunday. It's MUCH less crowded, and a nice way to possibly nurse a hangover...Anyway, you can eat outside, then move inside for the music and have some drinks. Or the other way around! The live jazz is definitely fun, the decor is inviting, and drinks are pretty good. The servers honored our strange requests (each of us ordered something like cranberry juice and vodka, orange juice, water, chocolate milk - EACH), which is always an added bonus!
