Chocolate 5/17/2006

If youre in the area and you love chocolate ths is the place to go. They have all types of chocolate desserts which taste really really good. The place is always crowded but it doesn't hurt to wait to try one of their chocolate desserts. The service is pretty quick and fast so it doesnt seem to take very long. The items are a little pricey but just the shop makes you wanna go in and try the items! more

Ice Cream Sundaes 5/3/2006

This small little ice cream shop on Michicgan Avenue really attracts a big crowd. I enjoy this place in the summer time because they have really good ice cream here. They have ice cream sundaes that are out of this world and that are topped with that amzaing Ghirardelli chocolate. The little shop is really quaint and has a very old time soda fountain feel. The little tables with their marble tops really add to that feeling. I have never gotten a seat at one of those tables though but I have been able to snag a table outside during the summertime. more

Old-fashioned soda fountain 5/3/2006

If you're a chocolate fan, you'll love the Ghirardelli dessert shop just off Michigan Avenue. Order at the counter and take a seat at one of the many marble-topped tables to await your treat. Service is pretty speedy for desserts and beverages, but the limiting factor here is mainly the number of people that can fit in the shop. Hot chocolate runs less than $3.00, and you can sit as long as you want. Make sure you keep your receipt because it doubles as a discount coupon for a future visit. more

ugh--I'm so full...BUT so HAPPY! 4/15/2006

Don't share. Get your own sundae. But come with an empty stomach because you will be bursting at the seams when you are finished. The portion sizes fit the price though, this is not a cheap place. But, part of the price is for the great location. Its just off of Michigan and Chicago, right across from the Water Tower, its a beautiful sight at night. more

This is a great way to satisfy a major chocolate craving. You must be serious about chocolate if you plan to eat here, because it is super delicious and the price reflects the quality of the product. I recommend trying some of their hot chocolate. It's fun to stop by at night, when the lights on Michigan ave so nicely. more

Ghirardelli - more ice cream, less war 3/19/2006

Ghirardelli is a great spot for an ice cream treat if you are in the Magnificent Mile area. I usually get an ice cream sundae which is served as in the old days if you were going to a real ice cream parlor. The Ghirardelli chocolates are very good too. The place does have some little cafe tables and can get very crowded on the weekends. more

Sweet 3/17/2006

After shopping at Water Tower or browsing at Borders where else to go but Ghirardelli. Although I think their drink and snack are just way too sweet, I like coming here just to sit and relax. Their chocolate is good, the place is small and a lot of time we have to just bump other people to walk to our table. In the summer we can enjoy their treats outside. more

I love this place. It's a bit expensive (but I think paying more than $3 for ice cream is expensive) and there's usually no room to sit but the deserts are out of this world. The staff is nice (if frazzled sometimes, you'll have to understand there's a TON of customers). The resturant itself is very clean and fun. Great place to take visitors. more

Soda Fountain 3/2/2006

This is a wonderful soda fountain type cafe to go to at anytime. it is located right downtown near the Water Tower. It is in a beautiful setting. All the drinks and snacks here are amazing; they are so rich and chocolaty. Try to grab a seat by the window becasue not only can you enjoy your yummy treat, but you can also enjoy the great scenery and people watch! more

Ice Cream 2/26/2006

This is a really nice little ice cream shop. It is very small and usually very crowded, especially in the summer. So, it can be hard to find seating inside. But the food, snacks, and drinks here are really great and really delicious too. I always enjoy having the chocolate ice cream sundae here, it is so tasty and very rich. I enjoy this shop most in ths summer because the cool eats here really give me a good break from the heat. more

Divine Chocolate 1/28/2006

A trip to Ghirardelli Chocolates on Michigan Avenue is like taking a step back in time. I visited on a weekday afternoon, when there were maybe three people in the entire shop. It feels like an early 20th century soda fountain, with plenty of dark wood, glass, and marble counters. You order at a counter, but they'll bring your food to your table. I suggest ordering their signature hot chocolate and people watching for a while. Servers will come around and take care of any other needs you might have, but I've found it's spotty at best. If there's a huge crowd, don't bother. Visit during off-peak times to absorb the atmosphere Ghirardelli works so hard to create. more
