I don't typically like to write good reviews for places that I prefer to keep incognito, like our daycare or our pediatrician, or my hair dresser as I prefer that these places not get busy, but I am making an exception. There were several reasons, why I originally chose this daycare:
1. 1:3 in the infant room and low ratios for the older children (this low ratio is unheard of for the majority of the other daycares I toured),
2. webcam (also unheard of for the other daycares I toured), and
3. location (near work so nice).
4. Allow you to come and go as you please. I often went during lunch to feed our baby and I could not believe that other daycares would only allow you to come during pickup and dropoff times.
Our child has been with the daycare for several years now and things have gone along pretty smoothly. I keep the webcam up and running in the corner of my computer at all times so I know exactly what is going on most of the day. When issues do arise (and trust me they do anywhere, but I know about them due to the webcam), I have no problem discussing it with the director and I have found her to be nothing but accommodating which really puts my concerns at ease. Granted, most of the issues that have come up are minor (i.e. pacifier being used outside of naptime) but they are important to me and director has always addressed it and made sure it was corrected within a day.
The teachers are loving and nurturing, which is nice. They often try to get us involved in their daily activities and take the time to tell me how my child did during the day so I don't feel like I missed out on anything.
Overall, I have been very pleased with the daycare and my child's development. My child loves all the caregivers and all the other kids and often talks about them outside of school. I am dreading the day that I have to take my child out of this great environment and into a public or private school as I feel I am so involved now in the day to day activities (with the webcam and daily updates), and once my child is in big kid school, I feel I will not be so involved.
Pros: Location, nurturing caregivers, low child/caregiver ratio
Cons: None

My twin girls started with ELF when they turned 2 and have been here almost a year. I took them out of Bright Horizons in the burbs in favor of a daycare closer to home. I was also not too pleased with the limited closeness and teacher/child interaction I observed with Bright Horizon. Being new to daycare (previously with nanny), it was a big change for my girls and they cried due to the separation anxiety for several weeks at Bright Horizons. There, the teachers did not do much consoling of my girls. I remember one day when my girls were crying in the morning and the 3 teacher just sat at the table eating their cereal. I would pick them up at the end of the day and their shirts would soaked from the tears.
I notice how well and how quickly my girls acclimated to ELF. The teachers are so nurturing and caring. Hugs is the norm. I feel like there are a bunch of nannies with the level of care given here. It is always difficult getting my girls to leave at the end of the day. They usually don't want to leave. There is also such diversity here and cultural learning as well. Spanish is a plus! I find that my girls are thriving, learning and having fun. We recently got accepted into Montesori and made it to the top of the Avondale waiting list, but opted to keep them here. Need I say more? I cannot stress the importance of the teacher-child bond. The teachers here are great with kids and very loving!
Pros: Teachers take great care of the kids
Cons: Smaller Classrooms

THE PRICES ARE A BIT HIGH FOR THERE SERVICE BUT FEEL IT IS WELL WORTH IT. THEY WILL COME DAY OR NIGHT TO YOUR HOUSE AND WATCH YOUR CHILD. MY SON LOVED HIS NANNY AND WE HAD HER COME ON A REGULAR BASIS WHEN WE JUST WANTED TO GO OUT ON THE WEEKENDS DURING THE EVENING HOURS,THEY ARE VERY FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU. I ALSO USED THEM WHEN I HAD TO WORK EVENINGS AND NANNY ALWAYS SHOWED UP. THEY WILL SEND YOU THE SAME NANNY IF YOU TELL THEM YOU WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THE SAME PERSON EVERYTIME. THE NANNY WE HAD READ BOOKS BOOKS AND TALKED TO HIM,HE WOULD SIT ON HER LAP AND THEY HAD A BOND...A TRUE MARY POPPINS SHE WAS TO HIM.

I have drop my little daughter off here many times. This is a wonderful place. All the people that work here are so friendly and make sure your child will feel comfortable. I was scared to drop my daughter off here at first, but after I met the staff and saw their great facilities, I was really happy to see I had found a great place. And my daughter loves it too!

Great daycare with caring staff and FUN activities. My daughter has been bringing home art since 6 months and loves songs, story time and her teachers. Fun holiday and spring performances on stage, picnics and events make every week different and it's a relief to know your child is safe and well cared for.
Pros: songs, books, walks in independence park, love
Cons: older facility

You have to ask for it, but Concordia will work with parents to lower the day care costs. Of course, you want a place the kids will like first and the cost is secondary but it's an option to keep in mind. One of the nicest options is that you can arrange for one of the staff to pick the kids up from school and take them to the center. The only downside is that the school has to closeby. It's a great option, though.

I have dropped my little daughter off here many times when I have an appointment or have to work out of the area. This is a really great place to drop off your child. All the people that work here are so friendly and make sure your child will feels comfortable, no matter how young or old the person is. I was a bit hesitant to drop my daughter off here at first because of those horror stories I hear these days, but after I met the staff and saw their great facilities, I was really happy to see I had found a great place. And my daughter loves it too becasue she is happy when we come here and when we leave.
