This small always busy Italian restaurant is a must to try if you like food ! I found this place to be one of the best Italian Restaurant in town. You have to make a reservation, especially on weekend since they do not accept walk- in during the weekend. Their food is sooooo good, there's nothing from their menu that I have found average, everything is excellent.

For me great Italian restaurants know how to make a killer red sauce. This place is another one of those places in Chicago. It's another Italian restaurant that makes Chicago famous and makes us proud. They not only have great foods but have authentic decor . The service is first rate here also. I know they have been here a long time. How many years, I don't know for sure, at least 20 that I know of. This stuff ain't out of the can, that's for sure.

At first I was cautious because of the few reviews, but trying the restaurant was definitely worth it: a hidden gem, so far my favourit Italian place in Chicago.
For every dish, from the standard pasta to more exotic risotto or fish, the chef managed to always give a unique twist that made it a unique experience! The only disappointment was the rather lame Chardonnay.
Pros: Great food, Nice environment, Great service
Cons: No street parking

Without a doubt, GIordano's makes the best pizza ever. Delivery usually takes a fairly long time, however, especially compared to the big chains.
Pros: The pizza, especially the stuffed pizza
Cons: Price, delivery time

Open Sundays noon till 8pm. I tried everything here and the food truely stand out: the Wiener schnitzel is the best one since I left Germany: wavy crust, flat, obviously fried in a pan, very tender and aromatic, just the right amount too. Every bite is like sitting at Grandmother's table. Definitely worth the trip. Great German beers on draft. Mirabell is an oasis of proud authentic German tradition, The bar is lively and friendly with lots of artifacts and atmosphere. I love this place!
BBK, BBK Dark, Bitburger, Julius Echter Hefe Weiss, Kostritzer Black Lager, Radeberger, Reissdurf Kolsch, Spaten, Erdinger, Erdinger Dark, Franziskaner and etc. I love these beers!
Pros: Food and beer!
Cons: Only one Mirabell!

I grew up in an Italian neighborhood and this place takes me back. This place is hands down THE BEST place for Sub sandwiches. Everything is always fresh and you just cannot beat the price. There is ALWAYS a line in there, but the service is excellent and fast. It is definately worth the wait. If you are in a hurry, call and order ahead. About 2 months ago, I bought a prime rib roast from the butcher. It was also the best that I have ever had ANYWHERE! Also, stop by next door to D'amato's Bakery. They use coal fired ovens to bake their bread and it is simply wonderful. 2 VERY AUTHENTIC Italian places still left in the City. I consider myself a very lucky patron of both...Keep up the good work guys!! Frank the butcher is wonderful!! Please don't ever change!!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Small space, no parking lot, short hours on Sunday

I grew up in this neighborhood and they have the BEST gyros in all of Chicago including "Greek Town" all because the tsatzaki ("garlicky-tasting" cucumber) sauce is homemade, AUTHENTIC = delicious. They put a good amount of meat, lightly fry their pita on the grill and combine their onions with a little parsley which is an excellent touch and gives it a good flavor. Other places have the audacity to say they have cucumber sauce when all they use is sour cream and cucumber or they order from somewhere else! Central Gyros has made gyros my all-time favorite "fast food". No wonder why I've been going back for more for over 25 years.
Pros: Food Taste and Quality
Cons: Parking, but the food is worth it

Personally I'm not to crazy about their pizza but that is just me. But for some really good, cooked by Mom Italian food? Yep...this is the place! From the outside you would never know it but they do have a quite charming little...and I do mean little dining area. Tina herself will often come out and pull up a chair and sit and chat with you when she isn't in back cooking! She takes great pride in her food and makes sure it is right. Try this place you won't be disappointed.
