This is another one of my special hang outs. If I'm feeling sad/happy/bad hair day/good hair day it doesn't matter, it always fills me with joy just to be among the animals. I think I missed my calling as Dr. Doolittle.
I really enjoy the bird exhibit. I love watching them fly over my head (hey, what just plopped in my hair??) and to see them prance about the place like they own it or something. But my absolute fave part of this zoo would be the farm in the zoo with all the goats, cows, chickens and such. That area is surrounded by such beautiful scenery. You have to visit during the Holidays for their after hours Christmas spectacular. It's awesome.

The Field Museum is more than a storehouse for biological and historical items; it's a place to learn without feeling like you're being instructed. The exhibits are really well put together, from shoes to dinosaurs.
Be sure to see the King Tut exhibit, open through January 2007. Admission extra.
City Pass saves you 50% on regular admission.
A good trip for families, friends and, of course, school groups.

You can keep your Louvres and just leave me the Art Institute of Chicago, thank you very much. This is a classic museum with one of the finest collections of art the world has ever seen. The fact it is nestled in my home town just adds to my love for this place.
The first thing you will see when you walk to the front entrance of this gorgeous building are the famous lions guarding the entrance. At various times of the year these lions might have hats on their head. Last year they had White Sox hats on their heads. This is as it should be, as far as I am concerned.
Inside you will find an endless supply of gorgeous works of art to look at. Even as a kid I loved this place because I could always find the paintings with the blood in them, which is always entertaining for a young boy.
Of course, you will also need to stop and stare at the gorgeous stained glass windows. You may have seen them during the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" during their visit there. If you have a loved one, sneaking a kiss in front of the stained glass is not a bad idea.
It's a great bit of culture for the city and a great place to visit the next time you are in town.

Sears Tower is absolutely one of my favorite places in Chicago. I know it is quite a ways to the top of it, where the Skydeck is so keep your eyes close if you're afraid of heights (at least until you get off the elevator). You have to pay a minimal amount to go up there but the view is amazing!

A once in a lifetime experience both at the breakfast and the Holiday Musical. The breakfast, though delicious wasn't something we'd normally have, but it didn't matter, we loved the service, the environment and the attention to detail. The Musical was a treat for our ten-year old and the girls took time to sign autographs to make it personal. We have awesome pictures and a memory to last a lifetime. The store is every American Girl Fan's Dream. The worst part is making a decision about what to buy. Girl Heaven!

First off I wasn't even going to write a review till I saw a review on here that just had a lot of information wrong on this store.
I've been coming to this location for the 10 years they have been open. Since day one there have been all kinds of deals that the owner has come up with. From his 1cent rental days. YES THATS NOT A MISPRINT! To the yearly October 6 horror movies for $6.66 special. 99 cent family videos that you get for 7 days. Even on Election day if you bring in your voter's stub you get a free rental. This is just a few. There are regular specials like a new member gets 2 free when they rent one for signing up. Rent 3 games or movies for $6.99 - $9.99 with a large bag of chips or popcorn.
Unlike the big store's even when there is always a slow long line you NEVER stand in line for long periods of time here. You are taken care of very quickly by the great staff in this place.
I can only agree with one part of the review that I found so incorrect. The price for one video is $4.50 but in 10 years of coming here i can say with the specials NO ONE just rents one video. Plus even if you do there is a lot more offered for your one video. With TV Shows and Deluxe Editions. The Tv shows are rented by the season... NOT BY THE DISC. Huge saving compared to Blockbuster and the rest. With the Special Editions brought in are always the best versions available. Many versions I have yet to even see at another store other than here. They bring in more then just special editions they bring in collector's editions that have more then the special editions. You can't buy those for $3.99 at Best Buy.
Their late fees are pretty reasonable. 99 cents on regular titles and games as well as 2.50 on new ones. I remember being late a Blockbuster once with a game and being charged six bucks!! This place is very reasonable on their prices. The best part is if your a frequent shopper. They sell a prepaid card there that you can have 30 rentals for only $35. Beats the crap out of the other store's prices as well as the bargain $3.99 basement DVDs on sale.
Saving the best for last....THEY DELIVER AND PICK UP your movies. So you never even have to leave the house.
I've been shopping here for years and rarely ever need to shop elsewhere for something. I strongly recommend trying this place out.
Oh, and their selection of DVDs. It's the best I have seen. Forget the big boys...check out this place.
