This is a 100% ethnic store, they really only target their Polish customers. If you're not Polish then prepare yourself for a bit of a culture shock, but never complain. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. This is not a one size fits all store.
If you're Polish, you will be delighted. There is no better selection or better prices anywhere else in Chicago. You won't mind the crowded store. There is a good selection of made in Poland groceries, and that's worth a trip from miles around.
The people who work there are not unfriendly, in fact they are extremely friendly. Unfortunately they, in general, do not speak English. So if you don't speak Polish, then you can't communicate, and some people may take it as being rude.
My advice is, adjust your expectations. This is like visiting a foreign country. If you don't like it, don't come here. But if you show respect and make an effort to adjust, you will be rewarded with the best quality Polish groceries you can buy in Chicago.

Okay, here we go again. Another case of "they love their own" and barely tolerate anyone else.
If you want to be treated by a joy filled person that makes you feel wanted and appreciated...then you may want to skip this place. I personally think some of the items are very good (like the Krakus sliced ham and the cheese blintzes) but other than that, I am not impressed.
They do need a good wash down, and their employees need some attitude adjustments, that's for sure.

This Polish owned and operated store has an OK deli(always swarmmed), produce section (fair) and general grocerys(decent). This place could be a little cleaner and the prices are a tad too high on the general grocery items like canned goods, dishsoaps etc... The employees are OK, they are much friendlier if you speak Polish. I stop in sometimes after I drop off clothes at the cleaners next door for some produce. It would not hurt if they were a little bit friendlier to everyone not just their own. Get what you need and scram.

This local deli, like most others, has a fantastic selection of meats that somehow goes beyond any other location. They have great deals and local friends and family always go there for their special varieties of home, but they always joke how they should be taking a translator with them. It's really not that bad - the point method works like a charm and the girls here are always willing to help. I would highly recommend this butcher over your typical chain supermarket.
